From Cheryl’s Desk Do you Tweet? As an organization, we have jumped into the world of social networking through Twitter and Facebook. Social networking focuses on building online groups of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Twitter users communicate in short, 140 character messages, called “tweets,” to their friends or “followers.” Messages can be sent and received through the Twitter web page and other online services, as well as through cell phones and other mobile devices. Facebook allows efficient communication among family and friends where they can go for news and information. Feel free to post and share comments! Surfing the web and social networking are quickly replacing traditional methods of getting information and we want to make sure that our presence on these sites represents what the consumer and our friends want and need to know. It is important to us that we keep our website fresh and inviting and are asking our residents, families, and friends to provide us with feedback. We are working on adding updated photos and need new testimonies for our website and social networking pages. Enclosed with the newsletter, you will find a form for you fill out. This is an opportunity for you to share your testimony and experience with others possibly considering assisted living as a living option. We talk about telling our story and feel that it is best told through our residents and families who we work to provide a great service to. I encourage you to share your testimony.

Business Office News From Nancy Every six months, in January and July, we send out a letter to you or your financial guarantor, with information on applying for medical assistance. We understand that there are times when we get behind on our bills. Any bills that you have that are past due need to be communicated to the Winona County Financial Worker. This is very important in order for your application to be processed efficiently and correctly. Just let me know if you have any questions and I would be more than happy to assist you in any way that I can.

Memory Care Resident Picnic Every year the residents at Adith Miller Manor and Roger Metz Manor enjoy an outdoor picnic at an area park. This year we went to LaCanne Park in Goodview and everyone had a really fun time! We picked up KFC along the way and enjoyed the peaceful setting at the Lake.

There are many things at the Watkins Manor front desk that I can assist you with, such as: •

Help you complete forms for ordering books of stamps

Provide you with change of address forms from the Post Office

Calling you a cab or the city bus

Provide you with a gift certificate to the Beauty Shop

Assist you in the Gift Shop to purchase small gifts, personal care items, and greeting cards.

If there is anything else I can assist you with - just ask! I also want to personally thank Lee Brommerich in maintenance for installing our new speaker in the lobby area. Many residents are enjoying the soft tunes while visiting with their friends.

Feature Resident continued from page 1 All of the kids grew up to be “independent and successful” which is a true testament to her strong-willed character. Irma quit school after completing the 8th grade to help on the family farm, but then returned to get her GED in the late 80’s. Now that’s determination! Irma’s Catholic faith is very important to her. She has been a member of Cathedral for many years. Over the years Irma has kept busy being involved in: 4-H, church sodality, Farmer’s Union, Cathedral Quilting and so much more! While she likes to keep busy these days she also enjoys her rest. Irma never turns down company and visiting with friends. She never misses a “Happy Hour” at AMM- she especially loves to come for the popcorn! Edible Tid Bits

Doreen is a very faithful volunteer of the Bible Study program at Watkins Manor and has been for a number of years. She has been doing the study on Wednesdays but now has switched her programming to the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor. Doreen prepares in advance for this program and welcomes her regular attendees however she always looks for new faces in the group! You do not have to be a Bible Scholar to attend just a desire to hear the Word of the Lord and participate in discussion. For any questions on Bible Study, or any other activity, please contact Nola.
