Tree Trunk Legwarmers

Cuff Work 7[8] rounds of 2x2 rib as follows: *K2, P2, repeat from * till end of round Leg (both sizes) Work 3 rounds in stocking stitch (K each st). Begin working in cable pattern as follows: Round 4: *K6, c6b, repeat from * till end of round Rounds 5-7: K every stitch Round 8: *c6f, K6, repeat from * till end of round Rounds 9-11: K every stitch Work rounds 4-11 7 more times, total of 8 repeats Next round: *K6, c6b, repeat from * till end of round Work 3 rounds in stocking stitch Cuff Work 7[8] rounds of 2x2 rib as follows: *K2, P2, work from * till end of round BO in pattern. Work the second legwarmer in exactly the same way.

Finishing Weave in all ends and block if desired. Wear with snazzy sneakers over jeans or tights and dance in the rain, frost, hail, snow or wind.

Materials Approx. 280[355]yds (255[325]m) chunky yarn; I used Jaegar 'Extra Fine Merino Chunky' (now discontinued) Equipment 6mm double-pointed needles, set of 5 Yarn needle Tension 24 stitches and 30rows=12cm (4.7in) Pattern CO 48[60] stitches. PM to mark beginning and join to begin knitting in the round.
