Right wrist warmer

Chart Details These wrist warmers are worked in the round. Odd-numbered rows are knit. Even-numbered rows are knit or purled to bring out the image. Red rows are worked in MC; white rows and green squares are worked in CC. (The green squares are there only so that you can see what the image will look like – they do not indicate a color change.) The chart is worked from bottom to top and in opposite directions for each hand – right to left for the right wrist warmer; left to right for the left wrist warmer. Finished Measurement Circumference: 20 cm (8”) Length from base of I-cord ring: 25 cm (10”) Gauge 20 sts and 44 rounds = 10 cm (4”) in 4 row repeats of 2 rows garter stitch and 2 rows stockinette stitch These wrist warmers will comfortably fit hand/forearm measurements of up to 23 cm (9”). Please test your gauge. For larger sizing, cast on additional stitches evenly at each end of Round 1 in the instructions. You’ll need: 

2 colors of yarn in worsted weight, a main color or MC (background) and a contrasting color or CC (image). In the sample picture, MC is black and CC is green.

Five 4.0 mm (US 6) double-pointed needles

Right Wrist Warmer NOTE: for a wrist warmer with a straight top edge (not the I-cord ‘ring’), start the directions from Round 1 below remembering to check the sizing and add additional stitches if needed. *Cast on 2 stitches in MC, leaving a 15-20 cm (6-8”) tail. Make a two-stitch I-cord for 7 cm (2.5”). NOTE: if a larger ring size is needed, make the I-cord measurement equal to your middle finger circumference plus ½ cm (¼”). Pick up 2 stitches from the end of the I-cord (there will be 4 stitches on your needle). Using the I-cord tail, CO one stitch to the outside of the picked up stitches. Using the ball of yarn, CO one stitch on the other end of the needle (6 stitches). Row 1: K6 Row 2: K6. Break yarn. Row 3: In CC, cast on 4 sts onto a second needle, then K6 across the existing MC stitches. CO 4 sts at the end of the row. (14 stitches)** Row 4: K1, P1, (K2, P2) three times. Break yarn. NOTE: These wrist warmers have a 20 cm (8”) circumference and will comfortably fit a hand/forearm measurement of up to 23 cm (9”). FOR LARGER SIZING, cast on an even number of additional stitches at each end of the next row. When working the chart, any extra stitches you add will be the same as the first stitch of each row on the chart. You may want to add stitch markers to designate the start and end of the chart. Round 1 (Row 1 of chart): In MC, CO 13 sts onto a second needle, K14 across existing stitches, CO 13 sts. (40 sts). Divide stitches evenly onto 4 double-pointed needles (10 stitches per needle). Join in the round, being careful not to twist your work. Continue to follow the chart, reading from RIGHT TO LEFT. Change colors after every 2 nd row, twisting and carrying the yarn up the back side of your work to prevent holes. NOTE: You will bind off and cast on stitches in Rounds 6 & 7 to make a thumb hole. For shorter wrist warmers, end with an even-numbered MC row. For longer wrist warmers, repeat rows 8386 until desired length is reached. When chart is complete or desired length is reached, bind off loosely. Weave in all yarn tails.

NOTE: These wrist warmers have a 20 cm (8”) circumference and will comfortably fit a hand/forearm measurement of up to 23 cm (9”).
