Responsibilities Chair Personnel Committee Authorize and monitor budgets for travel and
local mileage Approve staff travel and reimbursements for conferences, seminars, workshops, etc Provide oversight of training activities Provide input to budget preparation Serve as a member of the Destination Leaders Team w/ Melonee Slocum, Laura Kline and Barrett King
Responsibilities Authorize and monitor expenditures from private
donors designated for staff development Allocate and monitor part time budget Authorize staff OT Liaison with support organizations, city agencies
Friends of JPL Supervisor of Elections (SOE) office City HR department for coordination of Summer Youth Program
Public Service Provide leadership for system’s public service
activities
Circulation services Reference/Circulation Review Unit (CRU)/REVU Youth programming
Oversee implementation of directives, policies and
procedures; Provide input and recommendation of services, related changes and hours of operation;
Staff liaison to BOT Governance Committee Meets bi-monthly Committee receives and reviews library
policies/changes; forwards recommendations to full board of trustees Reviews and recommends acceptance of art donations following established policy Reviews statistical data collected via Counting Opinions
Personnel Committee Review and render decisions re transfer requests; initiate
transfers as appropriate Recommend new hires Review and implement disciplinary actions Monitor and implement HR directives that impact operations Review/recommend budgetary changes that impact staffing Support recruiting efforts at local, state and national venues Liaison w/ library schools in the state – USF and FSU Facilitate staffing audits as needed; recommending and implementing changes Provide JPL representation at union negotiations

Training Develop and implement staff training modules Coordinate and facilitate annual SDD (Staff
Development Day) Assist staff in completion of required 24 hour training Assist staff trainers in course development Coordinate staff participation in d:Leadership and reinforcement of leadership practices
CAL (Center for Adult Learning) Program is for adults 16 yrs and older Coordinate and conduct classes at several branches
utilizing volunteer tutors Work with clients on basic literacy skills Administer LSTA grant – VASE (Volunteers as Special Educators) Conduct ESL classes Program partners include FCCJ, WJCT, Jacksonville Children’s Commission Participates as a member of the Florida Literacy Coalition
