Lighting design for a city town hall (summarized version) By Omeje Ikenna Karl
TASK: Town hall lighting design C O N C E P T: creating light for different areas with different functions as well as making connections between them.
General office - Corridor Design points General office and the corridor are in direct contact with each other. The light in the office would be stable while the light in the corridor would be flexible depending on the light outside.
D AYTIME Corridor would be darker than the working area so it does not feel like you are in a dark corner inside.
EVENING Outside dark /inside bright glass facade becomes a mirror from the inside. By illuminating the corridor the space would look optically bigger.
NIGHT TIME A city hall should have a public building and should have a transparent image, to achieve this it would be lit from the inside.
MEETINGROOM - GARDEN - CORRIDOR Connect meeting room and garden by treating the wooden structure on the outside in the same way as the wooden structure inside.
Daytime Garden lit by daylight and meeting room functional light would be sealed to avoid glare from day light, in order to enable electronic presentations.
NIGHT TIME We treat the meeting room and garden as one entity that would become a soft glowing object using the interesting wooden structure.
Architectural analysis -MATERIALS No white walls!! Wood, stone, concrete Glass.
