Tahnai Annis, Florida M • 5-1 • So. • Zanesville, Ohio Tahnai Annis scored goals in the 86th minute of each of Florida's two matches last weekend. With the Gators trailing at Tennessee 2-1, Annis just beat her defender to tuck the ball in at the far post corner to tie the match, which eventually ended in a tie. Annis again provided late dramatics, heading in the only goal of the match at No. 23 Georgia to give UF a 1-0 win. Annis is now in a three-way tie for second among the Gators with five goals and is tied for third in both assists (3) and points (13). She's provided most of her scoring during the league season, as she leads UF in SEC matches with four goals and is tied for first with 10 points.

SEC DEFENSIVE Player Of The Week Alley Ronaldi, Ole Miss GK • 5-6 • So. • The Woodlands, Texas Alley Ronaldi was stellar in goal as the Rebels blanked No. 15 LSU and Arkansas on the road for Ronaldi’s sixth and seventh shutouts of the year. The Texas native made five saves, including multiple game-changing ones, against the potent LSU offensive attack that had scored 11 goals in its previous home weekend. Made some key stops en route to a season-high nine saves in the 1-0 win over the Razorbacks. Her biggest save stopped an Arkansas breakaway late in the second half to preserve the shutout. Ronaldi has helped the Rebel defense allow just one goal over the last four contests, making 23 saves during that span.

SEC FRESHMAN Of The Week Carlie Banks, LSU F/M • 5-3 • Peachtree City, Ga. Carlie Banks continued her outstanding performance this weekend with a pair of goals to lead LSU to a 4-0 shutout of Mississippi State on Sunday. She scored the game-winning goal in the 11th minute of play before adding a second goal in the 22nd minute against the Bulldogs. Banks’ six goals this season have all come in SEC play as she is tied for the league lead in goals scored in SEC action. She is also the third-leading point scorer in SEC games with 12 points in eight league matches.

SEC WOMEN‘S SOCCER

SEC TOURNAMENT The 2009 Southeastern Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament returns to the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala. It will be seventh time that the facility has served as the host of the SEC Tournament, having hosted each event since the 2003 season. The format of the tournament is a single-elimination tournament of the top eight teams in the Conference based on winning percentage of Conference games (regardless of division). The tournament shall be played in a Wednesday-FridaySunday format with Thursday and Saturday designated as days off (practice days). The winner of the seven-game tournament receives the SEC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. The 2009 SEC Tournament will be the 17th in league history and the seventh in Orange Beach. The first 10 SEC Tournaments were played at campus sites with Vanderbilt serving as the inaugural host in 1993. The tournament returned to Nashville in 1999. It has also been played at Fayetteville (1994), Auburn (1995), Lexington (1996), Gainesville (1997), Tuscaloosa (1998), Athens (2000), Baton Rouge (2001) and Oxford (2002). Florida leads the league with eight SEC Tournament titles. Tennessee is second with four while Kentucky and Vanderbilt each have two championships. SEC Tournament Champions: Florida (8) - 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007 Tennessee (4) - 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 Kentucky (2) - 1995, 2006 Vanderbilt (2) - 1993, 1994

The Tiger’s goal differential (+19) is better than the Gamecocks’ (+5). Each team has three games remaining with exception of Alabama and Ole Miss, which have four games remaining. The Crimson Tide and Rebels play each other on Nov. 1 after their Sept. 25 had to be rescheduled due to rain. Tie Breaker Procedure: The tournament will be seeded 1-8 regardless of division based on the point system implemented to determine regular season standings (win counts as three points, a tie as one and a loss as zero points). If teams are tied, the following procedure, in the following order, will be used to break the tie: 1. Head-to-head competition; 2. Goal differential in all conference games; 3. Goals scored in all conference games; and 4. Coin flip or draw.

Both of Georgia’s goals Friday came from Carrie Patterson, who now has a team-high eight on the year. Patterson now has nine multi-goal games in her career, the most in program history. Georgia out-shot Florida 21-11 and held the advantage in corners, 12-0. With 10 saves on the weekend, keeper Michelle Betos moved into 10th-place all-time in the SEC in career stops with 294. Next up for the Bulldogs will be a Thursday night contest vs. Alabama, wrapping up this five-game homestand. Georgia then hits the road for next Sunday at Auburn.

The Tigers battled Ole Miss to a 0-0 draw on Friday before thrashing Mississippi State by a score of 4-0 on Sunday. For their performance, LSU moved into a tie for first place in SEC play. By scoring a pair of goals against the Bulldogs, Carlie Banks was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. Banks is SEC’s leading goal scorer in conference play as she has scored six goals in league action this season. Mo Isom made history with a pair of shutouts this weekend as she now has 16 clean sheets for her young career, which sets a new all-time career record at LSU. The Tigers will look to continue their run toward an SEC championship this weekend as they travel to Gainesville, Fla., on Thursday night to battle the Florida before returning home to play host to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Sunday.

Ole Miss produced its second straight unbeaten weekend in league play with a 0-0 tie at No. 15 LSU and a 1-0 overtime win at Arkansas. The Rebels have three shutouts in their last four matches and only allowed one goal during that span. The Rebels have reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2005. The tie against LSU moved the Rebels’ record to 3-1-1 against ranked teams this year. Hannah Weatherly scored the golden goal just 43 seconds into overtime to send Ole Miss to the win at Arkansas when she struck an 8-yard shot far post with the outside of her foot. It was her fourth game-winning goal, which is tied for the lead among SEC players. Alley Ronaldi posted her sixth and seventh shutouts of the season and dropped her season GAA to 0.61. The Rebels close their five-match road trip with a visit to Kentucky on Thursday.

South Carolina tied program records for most overall and SEC wins in a season after getting a split weekend on the road in conference play. USC dropped its first match of the season in a 2-1 match against No. 23 Georgia before earning the program’s first ever win in Knoxville with a 2-1 win at Tennessee. The victory is the third straight over the Lady Vols after going winless in the first 13 meetings between the two schools. Kayla Grimsley scored first-half goals in both of Carolina’s wins on the weekend and added an assist for five points. Lindsay Small hit the game-winner against UT. Grimsley now is second in the SEC with nine goals this year and became just the 10th player in Gamecock history to have a nine-goal season. USC returns to action this weekend with the home finale Thursday against Arkansas and a Sunday match at LSU.

Tennessee battled hard to tie No. 11 Florida (2-2, 2OT) and lost a tough match to No. 5 South Carolina (1-2). Versus UF, the Big Orange got the third and first goals of the season from Chelsea Hatcher and Julie Edwards, respectively. Mick Imgram continued her offensive production by registering her third assist of the year during the match versus UF and by scoring her league-leading 10th goal of the season at 69:36 against the Gamecocks. The Lady Vol offense managed the most shots (19) by an opponent this year against USC’s top-rated defense, including an 11-7 edge in the second half. The loss to USC broke Tennessee’s second four-match unbeaten string of the season. The overtime contest against the Gators marked the seventh time the two teams have required extra time in a 19-match series history. UT holds a slim 3-2-2 advantage over Florida in “sudden victory” matches.
