This October 6th is the 33rd anniversary of the destruction of Cubana Flight 455 by a group of men recruited and trained by the US to use terror against luckless civilians in order to maintain its iron grip and influence in Latin America. Events that were uncovered following investigations into the incident clearly indicated that certain US Presidents were involved, one way or another in the saga of Flight 455. On October 6th 1976, a DC-8 jet airliner belonging to Cuban Airlines or Cubana de Aviacion was flying on a route from Barbados to Jamaica after departing earlier from the airports in Guyana and Trinidad when it crashed 8 km away from the Seawell Airport in Barbados as a result of two bomb explosions on board. Only a few minutes after taking off from Seawell Airport, Cubana Flight 455 was shaken by an explosion in the plane's toilet area and the crew of the airliner immediately decided to turn back and try a landing at the runway or the beach nearby. However, just some minutes later, a second explosion occurred and the pilot realising that he could not make it, abandoned his plan to make the emergency landing and turned towards the ocean instead. The plane crashed into the water killing all seventy-three passengers and crew on board. Shortly after the crash, two Venezuelan men were apprehended in Trinidad as a result of good investigations by the local police. Both men confessed to the crime and admitted that they had acted under the direct orders of a man called Luis Posada. One other man, a close accomplice of Posada named Orlando Bosch was also implicated. Both were later arrested as well. Both had done various prior jobs for the CIA in many places in Latin America and were believed to have passports provided by the CIA besides travel documents issued by other governments. In the US, the CIA and the FBI had information about the plans to attack Cubana Flight 455 before and also after the attack but mostly did nothing except filing away the information as a routine measure. As such, it was highly probable that some of the White House staff, then serving under Gerald Ford knew about the impending slaughter but quietly permitted it to take place since it was a Cuban plane. In 1985 the two Venezuelan men were tried, found guilty and sentenced to twenty years in jail. Bosch was acquitted due to a technicality and he later left for the US. Posada escaped from jail just before he was to be sentenced by the court. A warrant of arrest was issued by the court against him and is still valid. Bosch, also known by his codename 'Pan y Aqua' is still a wanted man in several Latin American countries for various acts of violence but the US has consistently refused to act against him, perhaps due to his past connections with the CIA whose operatives were very deeply involved in countless covert operations in Latin America at that time.
Luis Posada fled to Panama after his escape and later made his way to the US. He still lives in that country. Posada is a very violent political extremist and assassin and one of the most dangerous terror masterminds in all of Latin America. Even after his escape, Posada still orchestrated many acts of terror attacks throughout Latin America. In 2005 Venezuela issued a fresh warrant of arrest against Posada but a US judge blocked the attempt to extradite him on politically motivated excuses. Posada is a fervent anti-Castro extremist who in the seventies had developed a strong relationship with the CIA who paid him a monthly allowance to help him continue his terror campaigns against Cuban interests in Latin America as well as all those regarded as allies or friends of the Cuban government. Posada was also actively involved in the eighties in Ronald Reagan's secret military missions to destabilise Nicaragua which was then very friendly to Cuba. Although Posada was not allowed to be taken back to Venezuela, he was arrested on seven counts of committing immigration fraud in 2005 but all charges against him were dismissed in 2007 and he was freed by the George Bush administration. The Justice Department objected to this on grounds that Posada was a particularly dangerous individual to society but both the US Attorney-General and the Secretary of State refused to intervene. There were also protests from external sources against his release from prosecution. All were ignored. Today both Bosch and Posada continue to live in the southern US and have totally no worries about the consequences of their actions in killing 73 innocent people. The US likes to make a lot of noise about its so-called 'war on terror' but the country is shamelessly acting as a safe haven for known terror masterminds who are famous for their ruthlessness in committing mass murder. Masterminds like Posada and many other right-wing criminals and extremists are today completely safe and sound in the US. The US is certainly a hypocrite of the worst type. The US is evil. This nation is certainly so very, very evil. The entire world must never forget the fate of Cubana Flight 455. The innocent people on board were all victims of the CIA and the US government and their agents !! Never forget it.
