The POLYBLOCK building system IntroductionThe Polyblock system is known generically as either ICFs (Insulated Concrete Forms) or LCFs(Lightweight Concrete Forms).LCF/ICF systems have been used for over 30 years in countries where thermal insulation andenergy efficiency are key requirements. The systems are compliant with the new ‘green’ , ecofriendly building codes. The system is in essence a hollow expanded polystyrene block that acts as formwork for areinforced concrete infill and stays in place to thermally insulate the building. The system is completed by plastering with a special expanded polystyrene plaster: Polyplastor (internally only) by lining the walls with gypsum board.180mm POLYBLOCKAdvantages of building with Polyblock • Thermal insulation significantly better than brick and block construction including cavity walls. This gives better living conditions, building comfort and allows reduction in energy costs. Thermalinsulation(R value) of a Polyblock wall is rated at 1,76 which is 4 to 5 times better than aconventional cavity brick wall and 1012 times better than a single skin brick wall.
