The Lesson of the Withered Fig Tree Mark 11: 12‐26 1.
A life which couldn’t bear fruits a. The Lord has used the example of the fig tree which was unable to bear fruits to illustrate the Israel which is unable to bear fruits. The city of Israel will head to disaster. i. The fig tree represents Israel <Jeremiah 24 / Luke 13: 6‐ 9> ii. The Lord has used the mentioned example before He proceeds to cleanse the temple. The Lord has proclaimed the destruction of the temple in Israel and the rebuilding of the temple within ourselves (the new holy temple and the new Israel). iii. The message of rebuilding a new Israel could be found at <Jeremiah 24, Isaiah 6: 13, John 2: 19, John 15: 1‐2, Luke 13: 6‐9> iv. These messages relate and represent our victory in conquering the land of Canaan in the new era / the revival of remnants from being captives / and the 120 disciples at Mark’s mansion. = When a person’s life has been saved, it will be final (eternal); But if a person’s life is weak and chose not to revive, it will perish in due time <1 Cor 5: 5>, losing the rewards and accomplishments <1 Cor 3: 13‐15>, and their life on earth will not be peaceful or call to be even more blessed . b. What are the fruits which are required from Israel (saints) of the Lord? i. The inner fruits: A fruit which relates to a repenting heart <Matt 3: 8>; If a grain of wheat dies on the ground it produces much grain <John 12: 24>; The fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self‐ control . ii. The outer fruits: The shift from the inner fruits <Matt 5: 13‐16> / The fruits of delivering the Gospel / The fruits of nurturing the Disciples <Matt 28: 18‐20, Philippians 4: 1, 1 Thessalonians 2: 19> / The fruits of the construction of the Church <Matt 16: 18> c. Why couldn’t we bear fruits in our lives of faith? i. Because we have not established our relationship with God – Do not know the Holy Trinity / do not know our selves / do not know how to see God = do not know the mysteries of being born again. ii. Because we have not master the secrets of communicating with God – We pray according to our selfish desires and objectives / venture into mysticism, legalism and outward behavioral actions / without root and foundation = do not know the mysteries and secrets of God’s word and the Holy Spirit. iii. Because we have not revive a life which walks with God – We separate our lives from our faith / a life without a master, objective and focus / do not know how to pray at anytime, anywhere = do not love God and do not obey God. ** He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing <John 15: 5> ** For those whom are still on earth without entering and enjoy the Kingdom of Heaven will not be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven in the future.

The results of the fruits which are bear by a confusing faith i. Worldly religion ii. Believing in mysticism iii. Believing in legalism iv. Believing in good outward behavioral actions toward others. Reconstructing the Holy Temple in Christ a. We have to understand our problems in our life chapters before believing in Christ and the reasons why we MUST die and resurrect with Christ i. The problems before believing Christ . Thus: 1. We do not concern much whether we have experience mystical events with the Lord, but we must concern why we could not see the God who is always with us. 2. We do not concern much whether we are able to oblige in the law, but we must concern why we haven’t know our Father in Heave and are afraid of Him, why we do not know the righteousness of the Lord. 3. We do not concern much whether we are fervent enough in serving, but we must know the devil will blind us, deceive us and accuse us. ** Because all who have not heard of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will in no way inherit the Holy Spirit and will be bounded by the body, the root of sin and Satan. ii. We have to discover the reasons why we MUST die and resurrect with Christ <John 14: 6, Acts 4: 12, John 6: 54‐56, Romans 6: 1‐11> 1. If we are bounded by the body, we will not be able to see through the works of the Holy Spirit. 2. The root of sin = a life condition which could not understand God’s righteousness and it will not bear any fruits of righteousness to accomplish God’s righteousness. Instead, a person will always be accused by the evil spirit. They will be afraid of God and in no ways to understand God’s love and be in love with God. 3. Satan is stubborn and tough (just like the Pharaoh. He will not let go of those who has sinned because of their flash. Therefore, no one of us could depend on our own strength to triumph over Satan’s hoodwinks, lies and accusations. 4. Anything besides the Gospel of God (Christ Jesus who is the Prophet, High Priest and King) it will have no ways to solve our fundamental problem in life. 5. What about religion? It is actually the way of humans seeking after God in a condition which derives from our fundamental problem, a heart which doesn’t know God, knowledge, experiences, good works which are outwardly and kindness to worship God. People may work very hard towards this course of action to seek God. But unfortunately, they are worshipping the devil instead. They have fellowship with the devil and as a result, some may be

possessed by the devil, mental illness arises, sickness, the problems in the family, society and descendent, disaster and war…<1 Cor 10: 20, Matt 12: 43‐45> 6. Only a certain group of people who are blessed in the mercy of the Lord, who believes, receives and who are willing to die and be resurrected with Jesus Christ could be born again and become the children of God. They will see God, hear from God, walk with God and they will be able to live a glorious life like Christ. b. In Christ Jesus, we should establish a relationship with God, enjoy communicating with God and revive a life which walks with God <John 2: 19, Col 2: 7>. i. The mystery of Christ Jesus does not only calls us to be saved from sin and to obtain an eternal life, but also to call us to be able to see God, communicate with God and walk with God. ii. The mystery of Christ Jesus doesn’t only call people to change and improve their behavior, but it renews a person because of the new identity which was received by knowing Christ Jesus. Our hearts, receptivity, objectives, foundation, methods and content of live will be renewed as well. iii. We will obtain a new spirit (Holy Spirit) in Christ Jesus, which calls us to be able to see God ("you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you" <John 14:20>), be able to hear God <John 14: 26>, ask what we desire to God and it should be done <John 15: 7> and walk along side with God… iv. Lord Jesus Christ has already shown us the example of a child of God as living sacrifice by coming to earth through the live of a human, shown us how to glorify God, be of benefit to the people and the establishment of the Kingdom. Since Christ is still alive today, the establishment of the eternal Kingdom was witnessed in the lives of those disciples whom are willing to follow the footsteps of Christ <Matt 28: 18‐20> c. Through the revelation of the Holy Temple, we should be able to clearly grab whole of the mysteries of being able to communicate and to walk with God. i. The structure of the Most Holy Place, Holy Place and Outer Court = the spirit of a born again (Holy Spirit), thoughts and deeds (our judgments and decisions), our body (the loving sacrifice). ii. The five offerings (which represents our life contents), the great priest (which represents the advocate), the Most Holy Place (which relates to the dependency of the Holy Spirit), day and night (relates to having a specific time), the 3 festival (relates to our results). iii. Where ever the pillar of cloud and fire goes, the great priest will have to carry the Ark of the Covenant and follows it. The Israelites will have to follow accordingly as well = as a saint, we must put our focus in the sacrificial altar, the tent and the body of Christ. Reviving a blessed prayer <20‐26> = believe that you receive them, and you will have them a. The Lord said: “Have faith in God...does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done…” No matter what you pray about, if you believe, it will be done. i. In Christ Jesus, we as saints should enjoy this: If you ask anything in My Name, I will do it <John 14:14>; Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;

knock, and it will be opened to you <Matt 7: 7>; I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. <Matt 16: 19>; Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ; These signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. <Mark 16: 17‐18> Î If a disciple couldn’t enjoy all these, it is that because he/she has not accepted the word of God whole heartedly. Those who seek signs and miracles have greatly misunderstood the word of God. i. These people do not follow according to the will of God. Their initiatives are according to their selfish desires <James 4: 3, Matt 6: 7, Acts 8: 18‐24, 1 Kings 18: 25‐29> ii. Faith which is foundationless: superstitious, blinded faith, hysterical faith <Matt 7: 26‐27, James 1: 5‐8> iii. Satan had tempted Christ Jesus 3 times <Matt 4: 1‐11> ** These are the mentioned which will bring terrible results. The perfect will of the Lord, is for us to have a faith, prayer and live with solid foundation and rooted in Him. i. The foundation lies in the word of God, the teachings of Christ, prophecy and accomplishments, and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. ii. We should discover the beautiful perfect will of God through our conditions, background, relationships, events and time. iii. Those who believe in His word, things will be done. # for example: A baby could only be given birth to within a 9 months period, but the child in the mother’s womb is already alive; Before we can see the growth of the seed, flowers and fruits, the seed is actually developing inside itself. = If you want your life to be a blessing to your family and area, for God’s word may only look like a seed to you, but because you have believed, God’s works has already began, accomplished and be testified…it will continue to expand. = If you say that God loves you, everything will be turn into God’s love for you. = If you proclaim that you are a child of God, your identity, receptivity, direction and eye sight…will be transformed. If we judge all things according to the sight of Christ Jesus, we will discover the perfect will of God. = What happens if you proclaim that God has already given you the authority…God will preserve your thoughts and deeds…all things will be sufficient to you in God…? A prayer rooted in proper foundation will bring forth the promise of God within His foundation; if our prayers are accepted by God, it will bring forth 7 folds of promises by God to us… i. We will see the perfect will of God in proper foundation in everything and we will become a person
ii.
in God, a person in Christ, a gospel person and a person who belongs to Heaven. If we focus in practicing these mysteries, we will definitely enjoy being able to be joyful always, giving thanks in all things and a life which glorifies God, be of benefit to the people and help in establishments of the Kingdom.
