Who Is He Who Gave You This Authority? Luke 19: 47 – 20:8 1.
By what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority? a. The people with power are the ones who doesn’t understand what authority is = chief priest, scribe and the leaders, who are opposing the authority of God. i. The chief priest, scribe and leaders were members of the Sanhedrin counsel. 1. The Sanhedrin counsel was one of the 3 powerful influences (The governor Pilate, King Herod and Sanhedrin) 2. There were altogether 70 members = the chief priest (governs the holy temple), the scribes (in charge of the law) and the leaders (act as representatives). At that year, the chief priest was the president of the counsel. 3. There were election of religious leaders, religious laws and also the judgment upon the people and matters. ii. They have witness the works of Jesus Christ 1. John bore witness of Christ Jesus saying: “Jesus is the Christ, the lamb of God. He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. I baptize you with the water, but He baptizes you with the Holy Spirit”. <John 1: 15‐34> 2. Jesus Christ delivers the Gospel in the temple with contents of the perfect will in the laws of Moses, the perfect will of God, who are God’s people, how the heavens descends upon us, the matters of eternity, where are our root problems, how could a person be born again, receives the Holy Spirit and how to communicate with God. 3. Jesus Christ has casted away the demons, healed, resurrected a dead person, cleansed the people and had perform many signs and miracles where ever He goes. 4. The children of God whom had been freed, healed, received life and those who followed Jesus Christ proclaim Christ as “Hosanna, the descendant of David (Messiah)” iii. But the people were plotting to kill Jesus Christ 1. Because they have not served according to God and only cared about their position, authority and benefits. Their lives were not in God. 2. Their eyes were blinded. They only emphasized outward religious acts, the law and the teachings. But they have neglected the lives of the people and the matters of truly communicating with God. Therefore, they could not see how God is with them in all things…They have questioned Jesus matters regarding authorities in order discover an opportunity to destroy Jesus.
2.
Their thoughts, words and services were all against God. As a result, they have sent Christ to nail on the cross. b. Throughout the entire history, the problem with Israel occurs the very moment when they have a problem in understanding the authority of God. i. They have lost the evidence of Immanuel and do not know that God is with them. ii. Why have they lost the evidence of Immanuel? It is because their lives of faith have changed/evolved (they became religious, dwell into outwardly actions, dwell into mysticism and mingle with the matters of the world. iii. Why had they become religious? Because they had lost the vision of the 4 Gospelizations which was given by God to them, and they had ceased their communication with God. iv. All these are the results of failures in delivering the Gospel. c. In the contrary, the revival of Israel begins with the revival of the authority of God. i. It relates to those leaders whom have revived the mysteries of Immanuel (the 12 judges, Samuel, David, Hezekiah, Nehemiah/Ezra) ii. It relates to those whom revived the eternal promises of God to Abraham and Moses. Those who revives the communication with God in the Holy temple. Those who speaks with God. iii. They will see the presences of the Immanuel God and the evidences of how God has helped them and bless them. iv. The enemies will be eradicated, the country will be revived and the rest of the world will come to Israel to seek wisdom… d. The problem with believers of Christ and the church of Christ lies in the misunderstanding of the authorities of Christ. i. They do not know the spiritual significances of the teachings, accomplishments and promises of Christ / do not know the Holy Spirit / do not know the mysteries of Immanuel. ii. Therefore, they were being attacked spiritually, full of burdens within their hearts and they are weak in body and full of sickness…their families will have worries, accusations, quarrels and even unpleasant events / The church will go towards the path of religious, good outward actions or blending into the courses of the world, which results in discouragements and provoke matters which will split the church. The baptism of John—was it from heaven or from men? <20: 4> a. These are the reasons why Jesus ask such question: i. The Lord knew: They were trying to find a way to destroy Jesus. The Lord asked this question in order to reveal their confusion. ii. The Lord needs to emphasize that He was sent from God and that they all must know and be obedient in humbleness. b. How do we know that the authority which Christ Jesus has is truly from God? i. The content of the Lord’s words proves that He is God. 1. They were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.
2. I am in one with God… / I am the way, the truth and the life… / If you see me, you have seen the Father who sent me… /
c.
d.
Whatever you ask in My Name, it will be done… / I am the true vine and you all are the branches…you can’t do much if you’ve depart from Me… ii. Moses’ books of the law, the books of history, psalm, the books of prophets, they all have the same teachings and they reveal the true essence of God’s word. Christ Jesus has said: “The content in the bible is to testify Me.” It is to prove that He is the descendant of Abraham and the descendant of David (The Messiah) <John 5: 39, Luke 24: 44, John 8: 56> iii. The Lord has cast out demons, healed, resurrected the dead, cleansed the people and had performed many miracles. iv. The Lord had suffer the judgment for His own body (peers), received the curse, die and resurrected in order to call the people to understand the true meaning of being baptize in the water and the spirit and being born again. He caused people to love God, taught others how to communicate with God, walk with God, and produced many testimonies from the people whom had the word of God with them. v. The prophecies of the future and the matters of the future will be accomplished according to its time. As of today, how did Christ’s authority revealed in the lives of the saints whom are called to be blessed? i. It has been revealed from those whom are willing to be cleansed by the water and the Holy Spirit 1. People will be forever free from the power of death, sin and Satan. They will obtain an eternal life and will enjoy the love from heaven and God. ii. It was revealed through those disciples whom are hungry and thirsty for the Word <Ephesians 1: 15‐17, 3: 14‐21, 1 Peter 2: 1‐2> 1. The sickness in the spirit, heart, life, body and relationships will be healed and be cleansed. Allowing the people to revive a glorious and beautiful life. iii. It was revealed through the disciples whom have revived their faith in completeness. 1. They will be given the authority to cast out demons / speak in tongues / victory / protection / ability to heal. iv. It was revealed through those who love to pray. <John 14: 14‐26> 1. They will be able to see that the Lord is with them and the perfect will of the Lord will be revealed. The Lord will grant them strength and whatever they ask, it will be done. v. It was revealed through those who love the Lord and served Him <John 14: 12, James 1: 17‐18> 1. They will be given many beautiful graces, wisdom, strength and rewards. They are able to seek other disciples, build the church, nurture and assign works of the Lord to the disciples. The Lord’s authority will especially be revealed through those churches which has the evidences of Immanuel and the vision. i. These are the principles of the churches which should not be changed – The churches must revive all these:
1.
3.
<Matt 28: 18‐20, Acts 1: 1‐14> The disciples who knew the Lord Æ They prayed with one accord Æ They were obedient. 2. Fill with the Holy Spirit = obtaining the evidence of Immanuel, bearing witness to the accomplishments of the Lord through His words and testifying the Lord. 3. Their live focused on the holy temple, the congregation and the body of Christ, continuously learning the mysteries and secrets of Christ Jesus. 4. The Gospel reaches to the whole Judea, Samaria, Antioch, Asia, Macedonia, Achaia and Rome… = this principle is the same principle as the Israelites who came out from Egypt and conquered the land of Canaan. ii. How will the Lord’s authority operates within the churches with vision and the message of Immanuel? 1. The church will love the Lord, love to be equipped with the Gospel, love to do good works, love to pray in the Lord…(the principles of the book of Acts) 2. The pastor, elders, stewards and the entire congregation will receive the message from the altar (the message of Immanuel) and they will be obedient to the Lord and experience the Lord. 3. The pastor and the elders at that time were just people with the 8 beatitudes and workers of the Lord who prayers according to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. They will only obey the Lord’s perfect will. iii. The church should be of one accord because the enemies will attack the churches with vision from the Lord. 1. Therefore, do not compete, judge, but encourage and complement / if we encounter brothers or sisters who are weak, we must go according to the principles in <Matt 18: 15‐20>. 2. The leaders and the stewards of the Church should work on one accord with matters according to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. How to enjoy the authority of the Lord? a. We must die and be resurrected with Christ, so that we could obtain a life and objective. i. If a person has not love the Lord, humble in the Lord and hand over all things to the Lord, he/she could not enjoy the authority of Christ. b. We have to have communication with our peers (the body of Christ), learn together, serve together and testify the Lord together <Eph 4: 1‐16, Acts 2: 41‐47> i. We should pray more within the promise of God / preserve our faith / fellowship in the Holy Spirit / obtain the objective position of service / manifest throughout the world. ii. We have to preserve a single heart, and pray and serve in the Church of Christ, while detesting arguments and matters which will split the Church. c. We have to understand the secrets of spiritual warfare.
i.
d.
e.
We have to wear the armor of God (the content of the bible) Æ depend on the Holy Spirit (understand the conviction and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit) Æ and maintain knowing how to pray anywhere, anytime. ii. Proclaim the victory and freedom in eternal / examine, obey, have over and hope. We have to master the secrets of preserving the joy, a heart of thanks giving and hope at all times i. As a saint, we have the authority to choose “freedom, peace, joy, thanks giving, praises, love, forgiveness, complement and hope” in our hearts and we have the authority to oppose “compunction, inferior, worries, fear, disappointments, complains, competition, jealousy and hatred”. ii. We have to always maintain a heart which is already successful, most loved and a live with hope so that we could complement each other and maintain a heart which loves and serves the Lord. iii. For every situation which we encounter, it is for us to train in the secrets to be able to preserve our thoughts and deeds. The first hand victory in matters and people we meet <Matt 12: 28> i. The success in our eye sight, thoughts and words will lead to the success in our lives.
