Complex Textures in Colored Pencil Instructor: Libby Kyer Course Materials: Sharpener – electric (Panasonic portable recommended) Kneaded eraser Click White plastic eraser White plastic eraser block Graphite pencils – 2H and 2B Eraser guard with curved openings (Purchase in drafting supplies section) Feather - large flight feather to use as whisk (get the big white flight feathers at Michaels) Scotch removable tape Magnifying glass Small ruler 8x10” Piece of clear acrylic, 1/8” (can be purchased inexpensively at Home Depot or Lowe’s) #2 stump Brush - #2 to #4 watercolor with a good point. Sketch Paper/Pad – 9x12” or larger if desired, newsprint is great! Papers: Don’t pre-purchase, will be discussed during first class. Samples for experimentation will be provided, then you may select and purchase the paper you want to use. Tracing vellum, 9x12” or larger. May be purchased cost effectively in pads. Please sharpen all pencils before class. Lyra Splender Blender Letraset Pantone Clear Blender or other alcohol based blender(Available at Meininger’s or Guiry’s or online) Drawing board to tape to; may be foam core, masonite, or the mounting block for watercolor paper blocks that you’ve saved, 11x14” or larger. 8x10” Piece of clear acrylic, 1/8” (can be purchased inexpensively at Home Depot or Lowe’s) Water container Small tube of Chinese White or Titanium White watercolor (Winsor Newton is good) KOZO Art Materials (20% discount for botanical illustration students with class confirmation Note: A $5 materials fee will be collected by the instructor at the first class, to help defray costs of specimens and special materials .
