List Water Containers: two, for dipping and rinsing brushes. Paper Towels: for wiping of brushes and cleaning palettes. VIVA works best. Paint Brushes: two or more inexpensive watercolor brushes, round, size #6 or similar. Color Mixing Paper: I will be providing paper for extensive color mixing exercises, however, you will still need some watercolor paper as described below: Watercolor Paper: You will need some inexpensive watercolor paper for practice mixes. You can use a small watercolor pad such as Canson brand or a watercolor block such as Arches (140#), size 9 x 12" or similar. NOTE: "Hot press", a smooth surface designation, is the preferred surface you will be using in future watercolor classes. However, “cold press” is more readily available in pads and is okay for color mixing exercises for this class. Palette: You will need a watercolor (NOT oil) palette with a minimum number of 20 wells for holding watercolor paint. A round palette shape is helpful but a rectangular palette shape is okay too. Water Color Paint List: Select ONE of the four following brands of paint. 1. Michael Wilcox Watercolors: This is the paint that I use. (at www.schoolofcolor.com, 919-774-8723 in a 12 set box) cadmium red light, quinacridone violet, cadmium yellow light, hansa yellow light (lemon yellow), ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, raw sienna titanium white 2.
