Timed to coincide with the date by which Americans must pay their federal income taxes, the National Tax Day Tea Party effort is coordinated by DontGo (www.dontgomovement.com), Smart Girl Politics (www.smartgirlpolitics.ning.com), together with co-sponsors like Americans for Prosperity, Michelle Malkin, the American Spectator, and Freedom Works. Now, with the National Tax Day Tea Parties to be held in over 400 cities throughout the country on April 15. Washington, DC's Tax Day Tea Party will be marked by both a National stage at the US Treasury, highlighting the efforts and voices from national leaders, and a grassroots stage at Lafayette Park for local leaders and citizens. This dual location event will show the power of the National movement in one location.

Americans are crossing the political divide, and joining together by the tens of thousands, to protest the fact that government can't waste our taxpayer money to fix the economy. “We've borrowed $1 trillion we don't have, and it will be paid for by our children and grandchildren, in the form of lost opportunities arising from the inflation and debt load they will be burdened with,” says Chandler Ramelli, one of the DC grassroots organizers. The Congressional Budget Office says that the Stimulus Bill will create few jobs in 2009 and 2010, but will instead cause dangerously high levels of inflation as the Federal Government lets the Treasury printing presses run indiscriminately. The Tax Day Tea Parties will hear from a variety of speakers. Attendees will engage in a variety of activities, including directly and en-masse contacting of elected officials.
