Task 2 What is creative dance? Describe/explain in your own words

Definition of creative dance is how we express ourselves in an art form that our movements blends with the rhythmic movement and in our own legitimate expression that are used by a person to express their ideas, thoughts and feelings. The main point of creative dance is to communicate through their movement. It also involved movement exploration based on our own creativity as long as it is appropriate to create a dance that what a dancer wanted to express or trying to ‘say’. Another crucial thing about creative dance is that it is not a series of steps or routines thought by the teacher or instructor but instead it is a movement pattern created based on what idea or guidance they get from their teacher or instructor. Creative movement is a fun and joyful way to explore our own movement through any music that we like to develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and tap into our creative side. Teacher plays a very important role to help children tap in their creative potentials. Teacher should help them explore, discover and develop the gift of creativity to enhancing the quality of life for their youth. Creative dance is also unique because it involved physical movement as a personal expression and children find it exciting because it is simultaneously involves the inner being and physical body freely. It also teaches them and improve their focus in awareness movement. Because if this focus children will be able to discover how to express themselves through their bodies ,minds languages ,thought, imagination and idea through creative dance. Besides that, what I understand about the objectives of creative dance are to exceed children’s imagination and creative limits. Children are still in a phase where they

are still learning and finding their own identity. At a very young age they are not able to express their feelings and thoughts effectively and by engaging them in experiencing and expressing through arts, craft, movement and music will help a lot with teacher guidance. This can stimulates divergent and critical thinking and problem solving to built positive selfconcept in children.
