When Our body digests fodm the nutrients go to all parts of the body, These nutrients are proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats and water. We need food to grow, to have energy and to be healthy. You get energy by eating food that contains carbohydrates (sugars and starches) or fats. These food include cakes, sweets, breads, potatoes and rice. Foods that give you the raw materials you need to grow and to repair your cells are rich in protein. These foods include meat, fish, eggs, and beans. Some foods, such as fruits and vegetables, contain vitamins and minerals that keep you healthy because they help your body make full use of other foods. Fats give us energy. There are two types of fat: animal fats in eggs, butter, fisn and meat, and vegetable fats in olives and nuts. Water is also essential for our body because blood is mostly water. Water dissolves the nutrients and takes tehm to all parts of our body. Although humans can survive for an extended period without food, we can only survive for about three days without water.
