Subject: AA77 John, I'm beginning to home in more closely on the AA77 issue. There is a people side as well as a radar side. We will start the people side with Masaitis. We will then need to go back to ZDC, ZIN, and AGL, in some order. Consider the following excerpts from an e-mail of 9/24/01 buried in the AGL bulk delivery post subpoena. The email is from Douglas Nastally to Cheryl Zibrowski, Jon Mintzer, Rita Leach, Sarah Johnson, Kenneth Holm and Sally Weed. It is a lengthy tome titled "AAL77 Flight information from news," and appears to be from Sports Magazine and written by Sylvia Adcock, Brian Donovan and Craig Gordon. It the article they say: "After losing track of flight 77 for about 10 minutes, the FAA rediscovered the plane heading east over West Virginia." "Back in Leesburg, air traffic controllers knew at about 9:05am that they had a new eastbound plane on their radar, but they didn't know it was Flight 77." "It wasn't until 9:24am that the FAA alerted the military that the plane was heading for Washington." "...the FAA had notified air defense commanders that a hijacked airliner was heading toward Washington 13 minutes before it hit the Pentagon." "...9:05, Flight 77 appears as an unidentified blip on radar over West Virginia." Some of above, but not all, is tied to the 09:24 time. Some questions that emerge: What did AGL do to follow up on the leads it had as early as 9/24/01? How was it known by late Sep 01 that ZDC had 77 on its scopes? Where? TRACON or Center? John A., wait, wait, wait Miles
