Supporting a friendly, beleaguered host government by conducting military operations against armed terrorist groups and providing training, tactical advice,t and other assistance for conducting protracted counter-insurgency operations against hostile terrorist groups seeking to destabilize the nation.
2. Preventing the rise of Islamist extremist pseudo-governments in a failed state where hostilities are prevalent (for example, the rise of the extremist Taliban /) jK*~T regime during the civil war in Afghanistan). v f \. 3. Eliminating a terrorist safe haven by conducting a military intervention to assure a regime change and then subsequently conducting stability operations on behalf of a fledgling provisional government.
