Administrative Information Registration Deadline: May 15th 2009 Registration To Register your child(ren) please click the link below and complete the online registration form. You will need to complete one form for each child you wish to register. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis - For programs where a maximum number of places is reached, students will be placed on a waiting list. Complete the forms and click submit. A successful registration will be confirmed by email within one hour of the submission. On submission an invoice will be issued for the cost of the course. Online Registration Form Waiting Lists When a program becomes full any further registrations will be placed on a waiting list and the parents informed. Fees Fees are for individual programs and, with the execption of excursion / residential programs, are on a weekly morning or afternoon basis. A minimum number of students is required to offer each course. Cancellation / Refund Policy: Refund in full will be given, if notice of cancellation is before May 31st. 50% refund is given for cancellations after this date. No refunds are given once the program has started. Each program will require a minimum number students in order for it to take place. If this minimum number is not reached, the program will be cancelled by ZIS and a full refund will be given. Lunches For students participating in morning and afternoon programs, a packed lunch is required. There will be no school lunches available during the summer. Lunchtime supervision is provided (required for students Grade 5 and under) at a cost of CHF 100 per week. Excursions Money for entrance to museums, transport and lunch will be needed for excursion activities. (this is not included in the base cost of the program).

Learn Lions Summer School SAT Mathematics Preparation

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

This summer course will be focusing on mathematics with the aim of giving students the skills, strategies and confidence necessary to reach their full potential in the SAT test. During this intensive course students will review each of the four mathematics content areas: Number and Operations, Algebra and Functions, Geometry and Measurement, Data Analysis, Statistics, and Probability. Students will also have the opportunity to attempt sample SAT tests and gain invaluable experience which will give them everything they need to master the material, and boost their scores on the SAT test.

AP / IB English Preparation

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

The aim of this course is to help prepare students for AP and IB English. A variety of short but dense fictional and non fictional texts will form the basis of our study. Interpretive skills and compositional skills will be reviewed and reinforced, with both reading and writing treated as active processes that can be broken down into phases.

EAL (English as an Additional Language)

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

The ZIS EAL Summer Program is open to ZIS students who are new to the English Language, or who would like to improve their English language skills. The program will include: assessment, vocabulary development, reading and writing skills, and lots of Fun!

Learn Lions Summer School Be a Super CSI

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Learn how to be a crime scene investigator. Analyze pen ink, check for fingerprints, measure footprints, examine hairs under the microscope, detect counterfeit bills, identify fibers, and much, much more. Then using all your new forensic knowledge solve the mystery of the robbery at the science lab!

"Freakonomics“

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

This is designed for upper middle school or high school students who are interested in learning how Economics relates to our everyday lives. We will read the fun and famous book "Freakonomics" and students will be introduced to some of the basic economic concepts that shape the society around us. We will debate and discuss the theory of "homo economicus", that of "the economic man" and discover just how important this social science is in shaping the world we live in. Activities will include discussions and debates, videos, field trips, simulations and online research. This session is great for any student who has taken or is thinking of taking economics in high school.

Care Lion Cubs Camps

Lion Cubs Multi Activity Camp

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Lots of fun and games for all children from Pre-School to Grade 3 (current grades). Our experienced activity leaders have something for everyone - arts & crafts, music, dancing, sports, baking, picnics, trips to the strandbad and much, much more. Located at the ECC, where better to enjoy your summer than by the lake!

Into the Woods...

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Come and spend time outside exploring, learning and having fun in the woods. You can build a fort, investigate a rotting log, and go on a scavenger hunt. With a spirit of adventure and excitement we will set forth into the woods each day. A wide variety of activities will allow participants to learn about the plants and animals of the forest, practice caring for the environment and enjoy spending time outdoors.

German Fun Camp

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Children will have the opportunity to learn German in an informal, fun way. Arts & crafts, physical activities, drama, music, cooking, picnics and more will be used to explore the language. A real opportunity to go beyond the classroom with the German language.

Magical Forest Camp

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Fun in the forest! Children will speak English FULLand German, sing songs, meet new friends, read forest stories, cook on a camp fire, make natural crafts and enjoy imaginative play.

Challenge Lions Sport Camps

Soccer (Grades 1-5 & 6-11)

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Develop fundamental skills and apply them in competitive situations. Our team of coaches will work with students on individual skills, attacking and defending, applying this in small sided games. There will be lots of fun competitions throughout the week to test the skills of all players from the children new to the game to the more experienced players.

Tennis

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Develop your game and enjoy a week on the courts. Small group lessons for players of all ability levels. Lots of games and fun competitions throughout the week!

Basketball (Grades 1-5 & 6-11)

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Develop the fundamental skills of the game and apply them in competitive situations. Our team of coaches will work with students on individual skills, shooting, rebounding, passing & dribbling. There will be lots of game time to apply these skills and plenty of fun competitions throughout the week to test the skills of all players.

Multi Activity Sports Camp

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Choose daily from a variety of sports on offer. Activities will be situated at the Upper School gym and field - badminton, basketball, volleyball, climbing, floor hockey, football, swimming and more. All under the supervision of our activity leaders.

Drama

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Enter into the world of pirates, fairies, wizards, witches, and all things fantastical. Hunt for hidden treasures in Neverland, crawl through the rabbit hole to feast at the Mad Hatters tea party, mix up magical potions and create spooky spells. Have fun exploring these themes taken from classic childrens fairytales and stories, through drama, crafts, games, storytelling and guided adventures.

Art Attack

Cost: CHF 250 / Week

Explore your favorite media in this creative week. Learn new techniques and create your own masterpiece!



Lead Excursions Programmes

Outdoor Education Multi-Activity Week

Cost: CHF 500 / Week & travel

This week will give you a taster of 5 different sports close to the Zurich area. The activities will be kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, mountainbiking and sailing. You need to be fit enough for full day activities and you will need access to a mountain bike. Apart from that just a bit of enthusiasm will guarantee you a great week!

Residential Programs

Kayak Course

Cost CHF 1,000 / Week

This is a beginner‘s course for those wishing to learn the basics of white water paddling. The entire programme is based at the Versam Kayak School , directly on the Rheinschlucht, “the Swiss Grand Canyon”. There will be kayaking on all days, after which there will be ample time left for games and fun on the campsite and at the school‘s own waterfall. Kanuschule Versam is a member of the Swiss organization Safety in Adventures.
