Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Engagement: Representation: Action and Expression: In this SRT activity all of the students are engaged and ready to learn. By using this SRT tool I hope that students will think of it as some type of game: the higher your score, the more knowledge you gain. This will also hopefully be a way to help keep the students engaged at home while practicing math problems. This SRT is also represented by a variety of learning devices. However, since there is no translating option for this activity, my English Language Learners will have to have the teacher translate the questions to the students. If the teacher sees a student struggling, he/she can take action by finding accommodations to help the students’ score increase. Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce the SRT activity. Prior to this Student Response activity, majority of the students are already familiar with the process on adding and subtracting numbers within 20. This activity is designed to be a refresher for the students and test their knowledge. To begin the class the students will arrive and unpack their bags and find their seats. A warm up sheet will be on their desk with extra problems for the students to solve. The students will cut out all of the answers and glue them to the correct problem along with coloring their picture so the teacher can hang them up around the classroom. Once everyone has completed the warm up assignment, the teacher will instruct the students to grab their learning device and complete the SRT. Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Student Response and Assessment Tools ☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation ☒ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain): Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During the SRT, the students will be working independently on their devices and answer the questions to the best of their knowledge. The teacher will be watching from his/her own screen the progress of the students’ responses. This activity should take no longer than 20-25 minutes, of course depending on the students’ length of time responding for each question. This activity is student paced. Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply): ☒ Multiple choice ☒ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No ☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10): Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? ☐ Yes ☐ No ☒ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.) Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and display correct response to the class after the SRT activity? ☒ Yes ☐ No Why or why not? I have already selected the correct answers for the quiz. When each student is done with the activity we will go over each question as a class. Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? If the students have completed the activity with no issues we will move onto the next activity. However, if the students are struggling with the previous problems, we will go over the problems in depth and solve extra practice problems. How will the data be used? The data that is being collected in this activity will be a way for the teacher to see the progress from every student and where they stand with certain material. The students will get a participation grade just for completing this activity and there will be no grade for accuracy. I will use the results from the activity to help benefit the students where I see necessary (for example, in parent conferences). I will also accommodate for the students who catch onto the material quick and need that extra push to make it more challenging. Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. It is my goal to help the students feel comfortable enough to tell me where they struggle when it comes to learning. At the very end of the activity, I have given the option for the students to explain how they feel with the material we are learning as a whole. I want my students to have fun while they are learning and not be discouraged every time they miss a question. That is why I have made it to where my students can take this practice quiz as many times as they want to get extra practice. Reflective Practice: Spring 2018_SJB
Student Response and Assessment Tools After designing this lesson plan, I feel as if the activities I created help increase the students progress. The questions that I have provided help the students get more familiar and comfortable with addition, subtraction, and simple word problems that are within 20. There are more technology tools that can be used to help increase the level of intensity such as Brain POP, iPads, and other SRT examples for the students to practice while at home.
