Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Engagement: This is a response tool used in class so students are all expected to interact and engage in the responses. Students work at their pace which will help those who need more time to spend it focused and engaged in their responses. Representation: Because this is an individual response tool, all students will be expected to participate. This give voice to the students who are scared to speak up in class and the students who are unsure of the material. Students work individually allowing students to think for their own and test their individual knowledge. Action and Expression: Students can test their knowledge in a variety of ways. While the official response tool utilizes the Quizlet test tool, students can prepare and test their knowledge with flashcards or matching games. As the students turn their pre test assessment in, the teacher gets real time feedback on what questions may be tricky or confusing. Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce the SRT activity. Prior to this assessment, students will practice a lot. Students will group up with their tablemates and review the flash cards on Quizlet with the set of class iPads. They will test each other’s knowledge and get ready for their upcoming test through this pre test assessment. Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During the pre test assessment, students will be given open ended, true false, and short answer questions. Students will each have a class iPad with the Quizlet APP already downloaded. The students will each take the pre assessment test individually When they have completed their work, they will bring me their iPad so I can record which answers they missed and have a running tally of the more challenging questions. Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply): ☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No ☒ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? ☒ Yes ☐ No ☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.) Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and display correct response to the class after the SRT activity? ☒ Yes ☐ No Why or why not? By having the immediate feedback, students can see what topics they may need to work on or review again. Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the pre test assessment, we will go over all the questions as a class. This helps the students who missed the question or needed more clarification. This activity is to test their knowledge and get them prepared for the upcoming test so going over all the answers is very helpful. How will the data be used? When the students complete their pre test assessment, I will be able to see the most missed questions as well as students that might need a bit more review. This will not be a grade but it is a classroom activity that each student is expected to participate in. The data could be used during parent teacher conferences to gauge how well students feel prepared before a test. Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I want the students to leave this activity feeling ready for our upcoming test. They should feel confident with the material, working in groups with their flash cards, and with the various question methods- open ended, true/false, and multiple choice. Reflective Practice: To further this activity, we could translate our questions to a Kahoot!. Through the use of Kahoot!, we can see how we are doing as a class and compete against each other. This would be a great tool if I feel like we are comfortable with the material and ready to move on to a more competitive aspect in the classroom.
