Continuation….. Next Saturday, Oct. 17th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring “A Taste of St. Timothy,” an international food fair. Gorge Maza, who is organizing the event for the Knights, says there will be at least eight cuisines to choose from, including, American, Cuban, Filipino, German, Irish, Italian, Jewish, and Mexican. There will be a booth or food station for each one of the different 6cuisines. So what’s the catch? The Knights would like to accomplish two goals through this event: first, to offer hospitality and second to make a little profit. Regarding the former, the venue, time, and occasion is in their favor since Saturday afternoon and evening on the corner of Pico and Beverly Glen is quite convenient. Regarding the latter, for the purchase of a $6.00 ticket the purchaser will be entitled to two entrees. Beer, wine and drinks will be sold separately. Representatives of the Knights will be outside the church after the Masses if you wish to buy a ticket. Also, one of the Knights will be making an announcement at the end of Mass. Again, that will be next Saturday, Oct. 17th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., two entrees for $6.00. Several groups or ministries meet at various places and at various times here at St. Timothy’s. In order to try to accommodate those groups or ministries and avoid scheduling conflicts the church administration uses a calendar to write in what group or ministry is using what place at the parish site. This is necessary since often times more than one group or ministry may be meeting at the same time. Traditionally, this has been recorded and ordered on a paper calendar. With the help of Deacon Tom Sabol we have been working on putting the calendar on our own St. Timothy’s website so that not only can we avoid meeting conflicts but we can also know what ministry or group is meeting at what place, time, and date. Simply put, the “facilities calendar” is going to cyberspace! The facilities calendar will now be accessible on-line. On the other hand, writing in or putting up on-line which group or ministry meets at what time and place is still reserved to the parish administration. As has always been done (and the way it is done at most parishes) the process includes a representative of an approved ministry, say for instance R.C.I.A., going to the church administration and requesting the Chapter Room/Library for twelve Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The church administration considers the ministry requesting it and looks to see if there is any other request or priority and then writes in or puts up on-line that ministry or group for the dates requested. Thus, that ministry or group has priority on that venue at those times. That process of reserving places at the church remains the same. What we are changing is the way that people can see what group or ministry is meeting at what place and at what time and date. In summary, this new way of posting the parish calendar is to make it easier

for those of you interested to see when a given ministry of group is meeting and at what time and place. So you are invited to go to our web page at www.sttimothyla.org if you are interested in knowing these things. Upcoming events: Next Sunday, Oct. 18th is World Mission Sunday. This is an annual celebration each October. We are asked to remember “the missions” in prayer and financially, if possible. Envelopes will be in the pews if you wish to donate to this worthy ministry. At the end of November and the beginning of December we will begin the annual Offertory Program. The change this year is that it will begin several weeks later than it has in the past several years. Last weekend, the first weekend of the month, Oct. 4th, 2009 the collection was $4,918.00. Thank you for your donations, God bless.

Fr. Paul E. Vigil October 18th, is World Mission Sunday. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith is responsible for supporting the church in Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Latin America. There are over 1,050 mission dioceses that depend on the Society for their daily needs and the necessary financial assistance to continue their ministry. The Missions depend upon your generous support. Please use the Envelopes in the pews and place them in the collection with your regular Sunday offering. LITURGICAL MINISTER SCHEDULE
