FROM THE MOUTHS OF BABES … As for the title of the book, it was Erica Ritchie, aged 10, who came up with the idea of teaching grannies to use mobiles. She explained: "My grandma lives on her own in Scotland and doesn't get many visitors. We live in England, so we don't see her very often, but my dad gave her a mobile phone and I taught her how to send text messages. Now we text each other every day." Good one, Erica. But as for smiling at everyone you see, one wouldn't advise it on the London Underground. Grown-ups worry about things like that. It's a pity that children - by far the most sensible members of the human race - turn into them. 'Teach Your Granny to Text & Other Ways to Change the World' (Short Books)
