A person’s worth nowadays seems to be judged according to social status and material possessions. Old-fashioned values, such as honour, kindness and trust, no longer seem important. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? It is believed that the consideration of value’s person has changed greatly because of the modern social system and the great technological support people now have. These day, some factors, like social stratification and belonging to materials, can be judged a person with a high class. In my opinion, trustful, honour and kind personality is still more vital for our modern society. It is undeniable that social status is one of the factors which person’s value is classified by our society. With a high class society, for example, they are often treated in a privilege way and get more respects from people when compared to a middle or even low class. In Thailand, if people who work with a high rank in a government organization, they are entitled to enter in a fast lane at the checking point in the airport, whereas general passengers still have to follow the steps with a queue. Another factor is that material possessions are the one of social symbols when people judge a person’s value. It can be explained that when a person who drives an expensive car, like Lamborghini or Ferrari is like to be more attractive to public and assumed that he is very rich, perhaps this person is only a staff driver in a company. However, although how the advanced technology is progressing rapidly, traditional values, like loyalty, determination and dedication are still essential among all levels of organizations nowadays because they offer several benefits to staff and their owners. At the bank, for example, trustful and reliable personality is one of personality requirements during their initial interviews. What will happen to public’s feelings, if they hear that a bank staff stole some money during their working at that bank. In contrast, there can be some negative consequences for companies, unless they consider positive attitude’s employees. For example, a business research reported that a company without concerning about employees’ positive attitude toward their jobs, leading to an increase in customer’s unsatisfactory. In conclusion, it can be said that how the rich have and what expensive things they belong can be easily to judge as a highly influential person in our society nowadays. However, I do believe that oldfashioned values are still essential to modern society because they bring some benefits to their own organizations.
