Slang Words in English: 1. “Tipsy”: I used the word ‘tipsy’ when I was semi-drunk one night in “La Guancha”. a. To be ‘tipsy’ is to be kind of dizzy; walking funny.

2. “Dope”: This is a typical word that is often heard coming from the mouth of my best friend Jason. a. Something that’s ‘dope’ is something that is super cool. 3. “Duh”: When chatting through instant messaging services, ‘duh’ is a very commonly used word. a. When someone replies with ‘duh’ they mean that what was said was fairly obvious or known. 4. “Suckish”: A fairly common-used word between me and my friends. a. When something is suckish, it doesn’t work, or it’s not so cool.

5. “Airhead”: I heard this word in an episode of ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ in Disney Channel. Justin said it to Alex because she cast a fairly easy spell wrong. a. When you say ‘airhead’, you’re saying the synonym of ‘stupid’ or ‘moron’. 6. “Don’t know where your head is”: Right now, I say this phrase a lot to Maria

Gabriela, because most of the time she says random stuff, so I point this out to her by saying this. a. When you ‘don’t know where your head is’, you’re saying stuff that has no sense or that is incoherent to the situation or conversation. 7. “Pull an all-nighter”: This phrase is often heard coming from me during finals week, when there’s a major lack of sleep due to the overwhelming need to study. a. When someone ‘pulls an all-nighter’, they tend to either not have any sleep at all, or sleep very late into the night. 8. “I’ll warez it for you”: This specific phrase I use it among my very close friends, when they need a computer program right away, or a program that is very costly. a. To ‘warez a program’ is to find the program wanted/needed either hacked or unblocked. In other words, you get the full program without paying the commercial cost.

9. “Screw around with girls”: I used this phrase when I split ways with one of my

“best friends”, because he was doing stuff that was very wrong. a. When my friend used to ‘screw around with girls’, he flirted with them, and instilled a sense of false love into them, just so he could feel better about what he went through. In other words, he used them to make himself feel better. 10. “Klutz”: I used to use this word a lot to describe a friend of mine. She was really clumsy, so I called her a ‘klutz’. a. When the word ‘klutz’ is used, it’s to describe a person that’s way more than clumsy alone.

Slang Words in Spanish: 1. “Revolú”: A word that is mostly used by my grandma, when there are parties

with the whole family. a. When there’s a “revolú”, there’s usually a lot of noise made by people talking and laughing. 2. “Lambon”: Used a lot by Erika and another friend of mine, Joan, whenever I say

something without sense or that is incoherent with the subject being discussed. a. When Erika or Joan call me a “lambón”, they’re letting me know that I just said something really stupid or out of topic. 3. “Sembrando cizaña”: This expression is used a lot by my mother, when she scolds one of my brothers and then I make fun of them. a. When someone tells you that you’re ‘sembrando cizaña”, they’re telling you that you’re provoking discord between people. 4. “Raitru”: This expression is used a lot nowadays between teens and also adults. Personally, I consider it the slang I use the most. a. “Raitru” means that what you’re saying is for real; you’re emphasizing that you’re not lying. 5. “Rankeao”: This expression is mostly used by my friend Jose, whenever I tell

him someplace to go to that’s cool or awesome. a. The word “rankeao” refers to something that’s cool or awesome.

6. “Pelar pa’ abajo”: My friend Emma uses this word a lot when she comes back from a night of partying. a. When you say that you did some “pelar pa’ abajo”, you’re saying that you danced a lot, and you enjoyed it. 7. “La nota discordante”: Mom uses this expression a lot whenever one of my brothers misbehaves when we’re in a group. a. When someone calls you “la nota discordante”, they’re saying that you acted differently from the group. In other words, you misbehaved while the others didn’t. 8. “Pol’ techo”: Zuleyka, a good friend of mine, is fond of saying this phrase as

soon as she gets out from a rather difficult test or presentation. a. When someone says that they’re “pol’ techo”, they mean that they’re really mad, and just want to unwind and let the stress out. Also used a lot when a certain someone gets to your nerves. 9. “Tecato”: My dad uses this word very often, whenever we stop at a red light and there’s people asking for money. a. “Tecato” is a word used to refer to drug users that ask for money from other people. 10. “No seas tan picher”: Lately, Maria Gabriela has been using this phrase to refer

to Jason, because when she speaks to him through Messenger, he doesn’t respond back to her. a. When someone says to you “no seas tan picher”, they’re telling you to stop ignoring them and pay attention to them.
