Ming Ming," avowed by Mindanao theatre artists as the best dramatic play shown at the Adindanao: Mindanao Festival of the Arts at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) in February will be performed in Davao City on May 1, 2004 (3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) at the CAP Auditorium. "Ming Ming" in Davao is organized by the LCB Performing Arts Center. Written and directed by Artistic Director Steven Patrick C. Fernandez of the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG), "Ming Ming" is the story of three generations of a powerful political family, uncovered by the ghost of 18-year old Ming Ming. Set in the heart of Moroland, Ming Ming recreates characters whose lives intertwine in a web of intrigue, politics, deceit, and romance. The play mirrors the anguish of three generations and the wars that drape an influential clan's conflicts. Critic Persha Abubakar writes: "…compelling psychological drama.... there is a kind of sensual energy rippling through the crowd... This is something they have never seen before...The effect is gunfire-bursts of insight.... deeply moving and passionate."
