Prototyping and 3D Product Design ‐ DAC 2008‐2009 Name of the object (Student name): MiniVespa (student: Simona Conti)
Introduction of the problem which problem this object try to solve? The problem this object is trying to solve is that of the management of the Vespas motocycles, letting the user be in a continuous contact with them thanks to a small and portable digital widget, no matter where the real Vespa physically is.
Description of the object/ functionality The MiniVespa widget is a 3x12x7 cm device that warns the user when his Vespa has some problems or in general things to manage or improve (changing the mixture composition, adding some petrol, overhauling the brakes status etc…). MiniVespa is made by a white translucent material , some inside red coloured LED, and a WIFI technology which enables a communication between the real Vespa and the MiniVespa. If, for example, the MiniVespa’s front wheel gets red, this could mean that the tire is flat and need to be inflated.
Results and conclusion One out the problems I encounter while printing this 3D object was that represented by the great presence of minute details. To simplify the printing process the MiniVespa model has been vertically split in two parts and some of its details (like the front and rear indicators) have been completely deleted.
