Crochet Hook: 5mm [US H-8]. Yarn needle; 4 split ring stitch markers. EXPERIENCED

Gauge: 14 sts (7 V-st) = 4"; 10 rows = 4" in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge. Finished Measurement: 38" across back. BODY: Ch 141. Row 1 (Wrong Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook, skip next ch; * 2 dc in next ch – V-st made; skip next ch; repeat from * to last 2 ch; dc in each of last 2 ch; turn – 67 V-sts. Row 2 (Right Side): Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next dc; 2 dc between the 2 dc of next V-st – Vst over V-st made; * V-st over V-st; repeat from * to last 2 sts; dc in next dc, dc in top of turning ch; turn. Repeat Row 2 for pattern until 15" from beg, end by working a wrong side row. Do not fasten off. Place a split ring marker at each end of last row.

Rows 13-22: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in next dc, ch 3, * V-st over V-st, ch 3; repeat from * to last 2 sts; dc in next dc, dc in top of ch-3. Fasten off. Collar (Second Half)-Row 1: Place a split ring marker at each end of beginning chain. With right side of Body facing, join yarn in first ch; ch 3, dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch, * V-st between next 2 dc, ch 1, skip next ch; repeat from * to last 2 ch; dc in last 2 ch; turn. Rows 1-22: Work same as for First Half of Collar. FINISHING: Weave in ends. With right side facing, fold rectangle in half, matching chain and last row edges and stitch markers. Sew side seams from edges to stitch markers, leaving remaining work open for armholes. To Wear: Place arms through armholes with opening in front. Cross ends in front and close with shawl pin, if desired. Fold upper lacy portion back to make a shawl collar.
