EXAMINATION SYSTEM IN PAKISTAN HISTORICAL BACKGROUND In 1858, a new educational system was suggested through Wood s Despatch in the Subcontinent and it was the base of present examination.According to the rulers of that time those people will prove strong pillar for their government who will get education based on British rules. EXAMINATION 0. SYSTEM IN 1958 After independence Pakistan faced such difficulties that propre attention was not given towards educational system. In 1947, Pakistan got inhereted educational system whose standard had become very low because of world war.In November, 1947 the first National Educational Confrence was held and some suggestions were presented.but there was not appreciable change in the examination system because of amaldaramd. In 1958 a commission was establishde for This comission presented a report in which the following drawbacks were pointed out. 1)Examination has extra-ordinary importance in the educational system. 2)It is expeted from the students to learn sllaybus by heart and copy the answers of questions given in examination 3)There is no stress on practical factor of the current circula. 4)annual examination are held after a lond period of time therefore, the students become lazy and do not give proper attention to their studies.they become serious only ,when the examination are very near. 5)Tradionally subjective type is raij and there is no attempt effort for objective type paper. We conclude from the above observation that; EXAMINATION SYSTEM IN 1960 1) Paper for examination should be based on objective and subjective type. 2)Objective tests shoud be held at different level. 3)Computers should be used for making result and grading the students. 4)Subjective paper should be of such a type that each question is written in simple easy language so that the candidate should face no

difficulty to understand questions. 5)Such question should be promoted whose answer are short but jamay 6)There should be tranning for teachers to make objective paper. So that they become able to make such a test through which................. 7) 8) EXAMINATION SYSTEM IN 1970 and1960 OBJECTIVES 1)to give degree on the basis of examination. 2) 3) 4) 5) INTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

system. ‘Objective type’ and ‘subjective type’ are, in fact the two main forms of examinations. The classification of examinations in ‘objective type’ and ‘subjective type’, however, seems to have been made without any in depth consideration into the exact meanings of ‘subjectivity’ and ‘objectivity’. What is considered to be a ‘subjective type’ examination consists of such type of questions the answers to which are required to be given in descriptive form. And what is considered to be the ‘objective type’ examination, is usually in the format that asks questions and requires answers in the shape of (i) fill in the blanks, (ii) multiple choice questions, (iii) differentiate between true and false statements and (iv) short answers etc.

So the currently considered difference between ‘subjective type’ and ‘objective type’ examinations can be thought of that of ‘descriptive type’ and ‘non-descriptive type’ examinations. Subjective type is the ‘descriptive type’ examinations; whereas objective type is ‘non-descriptive examination’.
