Venues: McMaster University: McMaster University is a busy place with a story behind almost every door. There are hundreds of doors to open at the University. McMaster University is situated in Hamilton, Ontario and is home to more than 30, 000 students and employees. The 300 acre campus resembles a community that allows individuals to create strong and lasting memories. According to President Peter George, “the true power of McMaster's approach is that it combines our student focus, with our emphasis on community service, and with our spirit of innovation to create curious, inventive, insatiable and effective lifelong learners. The real impact of all the things McMaster does in learning is that we create the best lifelong learners in the world.” This year, with the newly built Ron Joyce Stadium and David Braley Athletic Centre, athletes will have the ability to experience a high calibre tournament. President Peter George believes that athletes “can excel to even greater heights based not just on their strength, but also on the facilities that support their efforts."
Sporting Location:
The David Braley Athletics Centre is one of the largest fitness centres at a Canadian university. The complex includes a double gymnasium, certified indoor 200-Metre Track, four international squash courts, and multipurpose studios for karate, yoga, dance and tai chi. Adjacent to the David Braley Athletic Centre, is the Ivor Wynne Centre which houses Burridge Gymnasium and Smith Gymnasium. In addition to all these facilities, McMaster is pleased to present their newly built Ron V Joyce Stadium and Les Prince Field. By having all these facilities adjacent to one another, participants can ensure that they will be able to reach their games on time and support their fellow athletes.
P R E - F U N C T I O N S PA C E The Pre-Function Area serves as the West Entrance to the David Braley Athletic Centre. The 3,800 square feet will be used for registration occurring Saturday morning.
MEZZANINE The Mezzanine serves as the connecting space between Ivor Wynne Athletic Centre and the David Braley Athletic Centre. This area also oversees Burridge gymnasium and can allow spectators to view any on-going games. The Mezzanine will primarily be used to serve breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday and will also have posted schedules featuring each sport that will be updating on a frequent basis.
S P O RT H A L L
Sport Hall is over 16,500 square feet and includes a Synthetic Floor providing excellent cushioning. Sport Hall will be used primarily for Co-Ed Volleyball and Basketball.
S Q UA S H C O U RT S McMaster has four (4) international squash courts which will host both Men’s and Women’s Squash. The glass doors encourage spectators and other participants to watch on-going matches and support their fellow athletes.
SMITH GYMNASIUM Smith Gymnasium is over 7,800 square feet and will be utilized for Co-ed Indoor soccer. This facility will allow the individual maximum space to compete as spectators will not be allowed inside the gymnasium; although there are spectator windows located at each corner of the gymnasium for spectating.
INDOOR TRACK McMaster houses the only indoor 200-metre track in the Greater Hamilton area. The Indoor Track features 4 lanes with 60-metre sprint lanes on the
South Side. The Indoor Track will host 100m sprint, 800m and 1500m long distance run.
E A S T AU X I L I A RY GYMNASIUM The East Auxiliary Gymnasium is adjacent to the Smith Gymnasium. This facility provides a similar environment as the Smith Gymnasium and will be used for CoEd Dodgeball.
