Phố cổ:  Thach Lam is the author of the work called “Hanoi ba sau pho phuong” published in 1943 which depicts Hanoi Old Quarter with 36 streets. However, “36 pho phuong” is not the exact name for the Old quarter as there are up to 76 streets of 10 wards in this area. It was just a conventional name for the area both inside and outside the area of the old quarter.  Except for variety of culture, attractions, the best foods. One of the most famous typical features of the old quarter is the handicraft streets. Craftsmen from the craft villages nearby the old Thang Long area have been gathering at the old quarter to develop their careers  Hang Bong is the street named after the career of producing cotton blankets and selling this kind of product. Hang Dao Street is the trading place for silk and fabric. The word of Dao means the color of red, which is the color of fabric.  Hang Ma Street in the past was the trading place for paper products serving worshipping demands of the locals. Later, the the trading products have been extended to paper houses, equipment or human’s shape. At present, Hang Ma Street become a crowded place for a large number of people to gather at the occasions of Mid-autumn Festival, Tet with various kinds of product including toys. In addition, this area is also the trading place for wedding decorations with colorful and eye catching items made from paper.  Hang Ga Street (Chicken) which stretches from Hang Dieu Street to Hang Cot Street is the gathering place of many traders for cattle including chicken, duck, dove, turkey, and goose and so on.  Temple of Literature is located in Hanoi’s South, with total area of 55,027 square meters, includes: Van Lake, Giam Garden, and inner space for worship.
