138/10 Win to: OBC

Player of the Day: C Brandon

Game Report: Well as disasters go they don’t come any worse than this , save for last years effort v LPW not chasing down 124. OBC won the toss when calling correctly and we were inserted. Just the toss Niven wanted to win. Things were going steadily but not swiftly until Gibby played on for the second week in a row. After this we batted very badly. Too many poor shots gave OBC wickets and we never looked like giving them a decent total to chase. All out for a meagre 138 in 36 overs on Burwood 3 where you need 200+ especially playing last years champions, who had rolled out a top strength lineup. Top score went to our visitor Brando who battled to 25. Bowling , we scored an early wicket to Wellsy, caught by Brando, after a wee juggle, but from then on no risks were taken by OBC knowing a small total was in sight. It was only when they were a handful of runs from winning that Fletch trapped Bull in front and was given a positive response to his appeal. The innings highlight came next ball when Warren Wisneski, OBC’s leading runscorer was clean bowled for a Golden Duck. H got another late wicket, the third duck in OBC’s innings but they got there off only 28 overs. A comprehensive buttkicking unfortunately. Our first loss, but still in front with LPW. Not a good day at the office and with LPW next week, followed by OBC again first game back after New Year, these are defining moments in the season. Donn Leckie
