My Biography: LaShonda Coffey My name is LaShonda Coffey.  I was born in Greenville, Mississippi on November 7, 1972.  I am the oldest of 5 childeren.  I was raised by my great-grand parents until I was 10.  After my great-grandmother passed away I moved to California with my grandmother.  I never lived with my bilogical parents but I love them just the same.  I am a proud mother with two daughters, Makeevia  Thompson (20) and Venicia Johnson (17).  I was 16 when I had my first daughter.  I don't have any regrets because they are my greatest joy.  allenges.  I've tried a few times to juggle school and work but it ended up being to much of a heavy load.  I decided to wait until my girls gotten older to return.  This has been the best choice ever. I only wish I could have been more careful with choosen the perfect dad.  I also wish I would have accomplished my goals a lot earlier in life.  ⁸”⁸ This is my second semester at Los Medanos College and I'm like a kid in the candy store.  This has been a life-time dream of mine to return to school to get a degree.  I did not get my high school diploma.  I was only a half of credit away but felt I was cheated and did not attend summer school to make up the difference.  In the end I only hurt myself.  It did not affect me from getting decent jobs.  But they were only entry level positions and I want more for myself than that.  I'm a firm believer that knowledge is power.  Being a single parent have given me quite a few challenges.  I've tried a few times to juggle school and work but it ended  up being to much of a heavy load.  I decided to wait until my girls gotten older  to return.  This has been the best choice ever. My goal is to become a Professional Business Woman.  I hope to be able to start my own Hairstyling Academy that will offer Cosmetologist further training to add to what they know to build a better business and marketing tools.  I have been in the industry for many years and I have learned  from experience some things that can be usefull to improve the Hair Industry.  Going to school to specialize in something you know could only be a success.  I look forward to completing this process in my life and to see something through.  I have a passion for hair.  I was told by my greatgrandmother when I was around 5 years old that I had growing hands.  I was always playing in hair and to this day no matter what jobs I get I always enjoy sharing my gift to do creative hair designs on others.   So for me, school is a plus.  We need to learn different strategies and effective ways for keeping busnesses of Hairstling profitable.  There are many different things that can be done to have a profitable business.  I  want to know so that I can be an example to other business owners and could profit from the knowlege.  Woman of all nationalities and nations love to be well groomed.  That's what make the Beauty industry an ongoing success.
