Founded in 1977 in Sierra Madre, California, Montecito Fine Arts College of Design now offers a broad range of curricula that includes various art and design fields as well as an ESL (English as a Second Language) program. MFA College of Design’s main campus is located in Monrovia, California, in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, and is a short 20minute drive to Downtown Los Angeles. Montecito Fine Arts College of Design offers comprehensive art, design and ESL education through our three programs: ESL, Portfolio, and Vocational. MFA College of Design’s programs not only puts you ahead of the learning curve through academic and portfolio development, but also ensures your success in the academic and work environment.

PORTFOLIO PROGRAM INFORMATION (F-1 Visa) Montecito Fine Arts College of Design’s Portfolio Program offers 16 unique majors in the art and design field: 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Advertising Design, Architecture, Entertainment Design, Environmental Design, Fashion Design, Film and Video Production, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Game Development, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Photography, and Transportation Design. The Portfolio Program is a 20-course program designed to prepare students to matriculate into a top art and design college by building and developing a well-developed, professional portfolio. The 20-course Portfolio Program includes foundational and supplementary courses designed to create a portfolio emphasizing a specific area in the art, design or academic field. By blending traditional fine arts knowledge with real-world computer technology, the Portfolio Program offers a wide variety of art and design majors and immerses students in a studio-like, personalized environment.

Montecito Fine Arts College of Design has a rollingadmissions policy and registration is on a space available basis. To apply, students must have graduated from high school or received an equivalent diploma from a secondary school. If a student is under 18, the student may enroll in the program under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

PROGRAM EXPLANATION AND SERVICES Montecito Fine Arts College of Design’s Portfolio Program operates on a 14-week term. The Portfolio Program is a full-time 20-course program. Students enrolled in the program must maintain a full course load (minimum of 18 hours per week plus 6 hours of lab time) per term. Students in the Portfolio Program are not required to take an Ability-to-Benefit Test (ABT); however, a portfolio review is required. Foreign students will be required to take an unofficial ESL Placement Test to assess their current English language ability. Each portfolio course has a minimum ESL grade level that the student must place in before enrolling in that portfolio course. If the student’s ESL level does not meet the requirements, he/she may concurrently enroll in MFA College of Design’s ESL Program to improve their English language abilities. Classes are offered during weekdays, weeknights and weekends. Please consult the admissions office for course descriptions and class scheduling.

College Advising Montecito Fine Arts College of Design employs a full-time advising staff to assist our students in their studies and advise them on their academic and career goals. College advising is recommended to all students interested in matriculating to top-tiered universities in the U.S. Our academic advisors work with our students to schedule classes, recommend colleges and majors of interest, provide information on portfolio requirements, and assist in college planning. We offer two college preparation packages: Gold and Silver. The Gold Package prepares student college applications and additional informational services for up to five (5) colleges; the Silver Package offers the same services for up to three (3) colleges. Both packages offer comprehensive college advising services to prepare our students for entry into a college or university of their choice.
