Location



The city is an administrative centre of Vratsa province and it is in northwestern Bulgaria.Vratsa is surrounded by Balkan Mountains.

It is the administrative centre of Vratsa Province. The city of Vratsa is a commercial and crafts centre and a railway junction. Vratsa accommodates textile, metal processing, chemical, and ceramics industries. It was an important administrative and garrison city under Ottoman rule (15th–19th century).

FAMOUS PEOPLE Ivan Cenov - mathematician, physicist, engineer, professor, academician. Born on 2.01.1883 in the town of Vratsa. Next Mathematics in Belgrade and Zagreb, graduated from the physico-mathematical department of Sofia University (1908). Academic Tsenov Ivan is one of the founders of modern Bulgarian pioneer of mathematics and applied mechanics in the country. His writings covered many areas of mathematics and mechanics as his main original contributions are on the analytical dynamics, variational principles of mechanics and their application Academic Ivan Tsenov has won a number of high state awards. He died on 19. 09. 1967 in Sofia.

Nature and sights There are interesting sights and onе of them is Ledenika cave in Vratsa Mountain.In 1962 it was proclaimed for a natural landmark.A lot of tourists visit it .The entrance is at 830m above sea level.Ledenika is one of the best Bulgarian caves,because the stalactites and the stalagmites are wonderful

Ledenika cave is located about 16 kilometers from the town of Vratsa. Entrance and is situated in the lowest part of Ledenishkiya uval. The cave has ten rooms. Largest concert hall.

Once the cave was full of water, but water is gradually disappeared and remained only a small lake - Lake wishes. According to legend, if someone dipped his hand in ice-cold lake in the cave and you want something, the wish will be fulfilled.

Another interesting place is the monument of bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev.It is located in a big square and every year on 2 June we stand in silence in memory of Hristo Botev.

In our city there are two museums:historical and etnographycal. The Historical museum with art gallery is one of 100 national tourist spots in Bulgaria.It keeps the treasure of Rogozen,which is the biggest in our country. The Etnographycal museum Sofronii Vrachanski presetnts the culture and living standarts of our nation.

Nature is really beautiful and variety.The sights in Vratsa Mountain are: National park “Hristo Botev” on top Okolchica; the pass “Vratcata” with the highest vertical rocks400metres; the biggest waterfall in Bulgaria “Skaklq” -141metres; the defile of Iskar river; ”Ritlite” and “Cherepishkite” rocks; above 500 caves and the ruins of Roman fortress “Kaleto”.
