Astrium EADS May 2005 – Present Skynet5 Management Segment – Project Manager GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE UK Level SC WAS UNDERTAKEN PRIOR TO COMMENCING THIS CONTRACT
The Skynet 5 Management Segment software application has been designed to provide a Web Browser platform, from where it is possible to operate up to ten communication satellites. Working to a strict timeline due to the implications of missing a planned satellite launch, I am responsible for ensuring the deployment roll out is undertaken in a controlled phased approach, I manage sub-systems, track issues and where necessary approve Change Requests and Requests For Deviations. I report on a regular basis to an External customer, regularly chairing Project Review Boards, the Project team I lead comprises a QA Manager, Test team Leader and a Configuration Control specialist. I meet periodically with Stakeholders and am responsible for providing RAG status reports and End of Stage reports, I receive metrics from the Testing team using this and budgetary performance stats to form an opinion on project progress and act accordingly. I continually seek to improve communication, eradicate workstream duplication. The Skynet5 Satellite system will provide the UK MOD with improved coverage, availability, functionality, flexibility and monitoring capabilities. All software and hardware is subject to stringent security requirements, this Project provides the level of professional challenge and opportunities that I seek.

The Product Release department is responsible for ensuring items released into the “Live Environment” have been subjected to the appropriate levels of quality control. The documents reviewed during this process include Implementation Plan, Risk and Impact Analysis, Back out Plan, Schedule, Unit Test Results, User Acceptance Test Results, and Implementation Work Orders. To ensure the smooth transition of the DHL IT Organisation to Prague, it has been necessary to ensure the continued rollout of Enhancements, Bug Fixes and new Programs into the “Live Environment” have been subjected to the appropriate levels of quality control and technical testing. As part of this transition, my role primarily focuses on managing work streams of consolidated periodical changes to the IT infrastructure, ensuring the appropriate resources have been assigned and work packages designed to ensure all changes are “Released to Production” in a controlled and manageable environment. I was responsible for the establishment of detailed processes which have been adopted by the Business globally, this has allowed the “Release To Production” process to be standardized, streamlined and highly effective at implementing major changes that adhere to stringent quality criteria. ITNET Jan 2004 – April 2004 Project Portfolio Manager GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE UK Level SC WAS UNDERTAKEN PRIOR TO COMMENCING THIS CONTRACT
ITNET provide the on-site technical management resource for the IT Infrastructure Upgrade, currently underway at the London National Air Traffic Centre, based at Swanick, Hampshire. My key responsibilities were to devise, record, plan and monitor all the Integration Test activities required to achieve client confidence in the supplied services. I utilized Prince 2, RUP and Best Practice Management tools to Plan and Disseminate Project Information in a timely and targeted approach, ensuring stakeholder buy in and transparent project reporting. Responsible for setting up a phased enterprise upgrade project, creating work packages and reporting structures for the Installers and Test Teams, ensuring lessons learned during each project phase were implemented. Leading from the front my transparent reporting methods led to improved Project reporting techniques being applied throughout the organisation as Directors and key stakeholders bought into the Process Changes I was responsible for implementing.
Organisation: Railtech Solutions Period: Mar 2003 – Jan 2004 Position: Project Manager Client: Network Rail, Highways Authority, And Bulgarian Rail. Rail-tech Solutions provide Web Based Fault and Incident Network Management Platforms to the Railway and Highway authorities in the UK and Eastern Europe. As Project Manager I was responsible for garnishing requirements from the client, converting them into work packages to form discrete Projects with identifiable objectives and targets, I hosted inter-departmental Project Workshops to ensure co-operation and unified approaches throughout the life-cycle of each project was achieved. I reported directly to the Technical and Managing Directors, maintaining an issue and risk assessment log, undertaking contingency planning for all unforeseen eventualities. I also issued periodical Highlight reports and escalated issues via Exception reports where no tangible solutions were apparent; Next Stage reports were also an artefact of my role ensuring ongoing visibility of planned activities and deadlines. Organisation: NTL Telecommunications Period: Mar 1999 – Jan 2003 Position: Project Manager Client: Worldcom, BT, Premium TV. Firstly involved in the implementation of a UK wide network rollout, comprising a new National Optical Network, and High Capacity Switching and Multiplexing equipment. This Telco rollout involved new hardware suppliers and was the largest value infrastructure project undertaken by NTL in this period of sustained growth. I was the key interface between the supplier and the business and was responsible for ensuring delivery lead times were met. The rollout was managed using a variety of management tools and controls, this ensured this high profile, high value project and it’s dependencies proceeded to the operational environment in a controlled and manageable series of phases, designed to provide Data and Telco services initially to areas of the country where previous network capacity was reaching it’s limits, eventually covering the length and breadth of the country and connecting to all newly acquired sites and businesses.

Responsible for Project Managing simultaneous worldwide Network Rollouts up to £6M+ (SDH / SONET / VPN / Advanced Optical, ATM, ISDN30, INM, NMC. SH, RM) Managing geographically, dispersed cross-functional technical teams 20+, Cocoordinating, Test Strategies, Software Updates, Network Migrations and Upgrades. Produce Gantt Charts (MS Projects) Updating and reporting on progress regularly. Carry out man management tasks, recruitment, motivation and performance analysis. Provide members of the Project Board with accurate reporting information via, periodical reports consisting of a general summary, KPI and RAG status and Cost to complete reports, Responsible for controlling the hiring, delivery and tracking of high value rented test equipment. (Annual Budget £¾M) Responsible for ensuring, Engineering Installation and Test Results documentation covering the Project Lifecycle completed by the engineer’s and approved by the client. Act as main interface on all aspects of the project, ensuring Communication Plan is relevant and necessary reporting and escalation systems are in place. Nynex Cablecomms, Orange PCS, Ericsson, Cherry Comms, Period: June 1992 – May 1996 Position: Consultant Commissioning Engineer I was employed by the Organisations detailed above, as a senior commissioning engineer, I was responsible for, conducting standalone, link and network testing on STM16 SDH/ PDH, 2nd generation mobile PCS networks and Broadband cable TV Networks. Responsible for safekeeping of high value rented test equipment and tools, maintaining site logs, completing test result sheets and fault reports. Conducting fault finding and rectification activities in sites and networks throughout the UK, able to work on own initiative and have the ability to be a team player to ensure co-coordinated integration activities.
Organisation: Royal Navy Period: June 1985 – May 1992 Position: Systems Engineer As a Weapons Engineer specialized in Radio Communications, I underwent intensive theoretical and practical technical training. I gained a broad knowledge of Electronic Principles and was trained in the practical aspects of faultfinding on complex electronic equipment including; but not limited to: Radar (primary and secondary), Sonar (active and Passive), Navigational Systems, Communication Systems, MF-Microwave, including satellite. I gained practical experience during three years on board sea-going warships, I gained promotion and at a relatively young age became a “Leader of men” I spent a further year at sea and was the supervisor of a team of 4 engineers responsible for maintaining the ships external communication and satellite systems. I was then employed as a Systems Engineer based at a NATO Communications Centre for 2 years prior to leaving the service.
