Parallel Journey 9.1 As Dante begins his journey through Cirle Nine, he finds himself in a dark pit of a well below the Giants feet, filled with awe. As he and his Guide make their way across the vast ice, he sees two unfortunate souls clamped breast to breast. Filled with complete sorrow, he seeks to find out why. As he asks, they only weep, resulting in having their eyes froze shut once again. While Dante is wallowing in their eternal doom, a wraith beside him exclaims the fate of the two. After the sad tale is finished, Dante walks away shivering with the thoughts of what he had just encountered. Though he is still somewhat pitiful for the wretched wraiths, by now he understands why they are undergo such wicked torment. This then moves into Round Two of Circle Nine, when Dante accidentally kicks one of the damned soul's head.
