The instructor announced that they will type all of their writing in the computer for revising easily. 2. Explanation about MLA (Modern Language Format) : She showed the writing format on the blackboard and explained how to write using this format. For example, the heading, the title, the body, and the margin. 3. Studying the textbook : Students studied about “Parts of Speech” in the textbook. Instructor read the textbook and explained it with examples. Sometimes, she asked students the meaning of some part of speech. Comments : The lesson was planned well by the instructor. She knew the steps of the lesson and how to manage the class. That way, she didn’t miss what she wanted to teach. The class mood is very mild and free. Students learned knowledge about writing and practiced real composition in the class, too. It showed a good balance between knowledge and practice. I thought that the teacher’s preparation of the lesson was very important.

Check the assignments : The instructor gathered the journal notebooks. Students have done homework from the last class. She announced the schedule of assignments in this semester and checked all of the course schedules again. 2. Lecture about “Capitalization”: The instructor asked what capitalization is and how to use it. She wrote down the categories from students’ answers. She explained the different meaning s when the words should be capitalized or noncapitalized. After explaining, she checked students’ understanding. Comments : The instructor had long-term goals for the course. She knew what students needed in this course. She wanted to help them by writing a journal every week. They prepared the notebooks for gathering all of the writing because at the end of the course, the students will review their writings and compare the final writing with the first one. They will realize how much their writing skills have improved. I thought that the portfolio was a good record for students’ course progression.
