AC-DC Power Supplies

HWS Series 15 -1500W Single Output Industrial Power Supplies TDK-Lambda’s HWS series of high-quality industrial power supplies comes with a lifetime warranty as standard, a “first” in the industry. The reliability of TDK-Lambda’s flagship HWS series has been field proven with a negligible return rate since it’s original introduction (with a 5 year warranty) several years ago. The full range of models from 15W to 1500W, including “HD” heavy duty and “ME” medically approved versions are covered provided they are installed and used in accordance with TDK-Lambda’s instruction manual. 300W AND 600W VERSIONS WITH 300% PEAK POWER CAPABILITY TDK-Lambda extended its successful HWS family of single output power supplies with the introduction of the 300W and 600W versions. The 300W & 600W version of single output power supplies comes with a 300% peak power capability for 5 seconds. Coming with a lifetime warranty, the HWS300P and HWS600P series are designed for industrial applications, such as lighting, factory automation, test & measurement, industrial printers, process control, and motor and pump drives and provide a very cost and space efficient solution compared to oversizing conventional power supplies just to handle the peak current. Both HWS-P units from TDK-Lambda are available with nominal outputs of 24, 36 and 48V, and each model can be adjusted locally by -20/+10% to accommodate nonstandard system voltages. The HWS300P series has a peak output power of 1008W and the HWS600P reaches 1992W. The power supplies have a high-quality internal fan and can be operated in a -10 to +70°C ambient. Overcurrent and overvoltage protection is standard, as is a power good signal and remote on/off. Immunity compliance is in accordance with all relevant parts of IEC61000 and hold up meets SEMI F47 requirements at high line input. All models meet EN55011/EN55022, FCC VCCI curve B conducted and radiated EMI. TDK-Lambda’s HWS300P and HWS600P series are approved to UL/CSA/EN 60950-1 and EN50178, CE marked, and operates from 85 to 265Vac.

Small - Reliable - Efficient CONVENIENT DESIGN The LGA C-Series high-density power converters are packaged in a 16.26 x 16.26 mm outline and utilize an identical footprint for all models (3A, 6A, 10A and 20A) that provides designers a convenient power migration path as system requirements change. The power converter’s ultra compact Land Grid Array (LGA) packaging enables a uniform, low profile form factor ideal for space restricted boards. The LGA C-Series can be mounted on either side of many circuit boards and offers designers an opportunity to employ a variety of conductive cooling techniques via either surface. BEST-IN-CLASS FEATURES Fully equipped with a variety of best-in-class features including under-voltage lockout, differential remote sense, power good signal, output margining and shortcircuit protection, the LGA C-Series ensures a high power reliable unit at a competitive price point.

MINIMAL OUTPUT DERATING The LGA C-Series delivers high efficiency of 92%, typical at full load under nominal conditions. Its ultra compact packaging and low profile construction allows for bilateral heat transfer and low apparent net thermal resistance once mounted on a typical circuit board. These enable the LGA modules to operate up to 85 °C max ambient temperature with almost no derating on the output for most versions. Various external heatsink accessories are also available if extended temperature operations are desired.

In order to simplify the design process, Nu Horizons has created a series of application notes designed to guide engineers through the process of interfacing different devices together. Using a detailed step-by-step approach, these design guides identify key elements in the design process. Topics in the application notes are organized by design task and each topic is a stand-alone section, with a short introduction or overview, followed by the step-by-step guidelines. All steps include a sufficient level of detail to provide the designer with relevant information to proceed quickly and easily from start to finish.

Nu Horizons Application Notes

Using Emerson Programmable Power Modules in Xilinx Virtex-5 and Spartan-3 FPGA Applications: A Step-By-Step Guide This step-by-step guide uses two example applications, a high-speed packet processor and a high-volume industrial application to show the key FPGA and Power considerations. It illustrates the various tools and techniques available to determine the power requirements of the FPGA, to select the right Emerson Programmable Power Modules and to guide the layout of the printed circuit board.

Creating a Power Subsystem for Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGAs using Linear Technology Power Devices: A Step-By-Step Guide Many modern applications use FPGAs to implement complex system level building blocks. FPGAs now require extensive power subsystems to provide the variety of voltages and high-power required for parallel I/O banks, FPGA Core, high-speed Serial I/O and various clocking, delay and analog-like functions. This application note provides a step-by-step guide for a design engineer who needs to quickly and efficiently create a Power subsystem using LTC power products for a Xilinx Virtex-5™ FPGA.

Creating a Power Subsystem for Xilinx Spartan-3A DSP FPGAs using Linear Technology Power Devices: A Step-By-Step Guide This step-by-step guide will use an example instrumentation application, a semiconductor wafer process control monitor with a high speed analog input, to demonstrate how to quickly and easily create a high-functionality, analog subsystem using a LTC AtoD converter and a Xilinx Spartan™-3DSP FPGA.

Creating a Power Subsystem for a Renesas SuperH™ Processor using HELDO™ Power Devices: A StepBy-Step Guide Creating a Power subsystem involves a variety of design considerations. This application note provides a step-by-step guide for a design engineer who needs to quickly and efficiently create a Power Subsystem using HELDO™ power management devices and a Renesas SuperH processor.
