15 Ways To Thank Your Child

CCC’s Apple Pie Night Friday, November 16th RSVP to Julia at [email protected]

People give thanks for many things - their job, health, and material possessions. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of what is really important - our children. Now is the time to make a little extra effort to show our children how thankful we really are to have them. Here are a few ways to show your child how you feel: 1. Plan a special day for just you and your child. Plan ahead and mark it on your calendar if you need to. (It can be fun to cross off the days until your "special" day and count the days together). 2. Go to school and have lunch with your child.

Household Kitchen Tips • Reheat Pizza. Heat up leftover pizza in an nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza! • Expanding Frosting. When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. Doing so will double it in size allowing you to frost more cakes/cupcakes with the same amount. That means less sugar, less calories and fluffy frosting. • Microwave Splatter. Food splatters all over the inside of

your microwave and cooks itself on after time. To easily remove this mess, place a sponge soaked in water in the microwave. Cook on high heat for 2 minutes, then allow it to sit without opening the microwave door for 5 minutes. The mess is ready to be wiped right off—no scrubbing— and your sponge is right there to do it. This is also a great way to sanitize your sponge. • Coffee Grinder. Grind up a cup or so of rice in a coffee grinder to clean the grinder and sharpen it’s blades.

We have all been there. Just fresh from the hospital, exhausted from delivery and hospital stay and completely tied up with a new little one that we barely have time to take care of ourselves, let alone feed our whole family. And then an Angel shows up at your door with FOOD. What a blessing!! YOU are that blessing. All of the moms who have received meals this year have been so grateful for your generosity. THANK YOU for reaching out and giving that gift to these moms. It truly is such a gift, to the moms receiving the meals, but also to yourself. You don’t realize how good it feels until you are on the giving end of those meals. I encourage each of you to consider taking a meal to a mom this year. We have lots of babies to be born this year with ample opportunity to volunteer. Future Angels: Watch for CCCMOPS emails to sign up!

Attention MOPS Moms: Thank YOU for participating in Operation Christmas Child and for all the items you brought today to give to the children!

C O R N Colored Salt Take an empty spice jar and fill with some salt or sugar. Add some food coloring and have the child shake to color the salt. When colored, let her paint a design with a paintbrush and water or glue and then shake the salt over the top to color the design. Do two or more colors for nice pictures and color mixing lessons.

Bundle up! MOPPETS Guideline of the Month. With the weather and time change, it’s time to dress your kids warmly, in comfortable clothing appropriate for indoor AND outdoor play. Dress them in layers and don’t forget to label all of their items! Thanks!

Sometimes kids make the best gifts… Bring them to Bethlehem Marketplace for fun, Christmas craft-making on Sunday, Dec. 2nd (more info. On Page 4) or contact: [email protected] for more details.

Handprint Turkey Chains Supplies: paper (a really long piece is good), your child’s hand, scissors, crayons, markers, feathers, etc. to decorate with. 1. Fold paper, “fan style (back and forth, back and forth)” the width of your child’s hand. 2. Trace their hand onto the paper so that their thumb and pinkie touch the edges of the folds, even going off the page a tiny bit. 3. Have your child add feet and “gobbles” to the turkey hand, and then you cut out the turkey chain, keep it all folded together and don’t cut around the tip of either the thumb or pinkie, this will allow the turkey’s to remain touching, thus making a “Turkey Chain”. 4. Unfold the turkeys and let your child decorate them all up. Be extra creative and add a pilgrim hat or some Native American attire to the different turkeys!

Parents aren't perfect, but a little effort can go a long way. Taking a little time to show your children how thankful you are for them can really make a difference in how they feel about themselves and others. It is important that children feel they are loved and cherished. The extra time you spend with your children is time that they will be thankful for in the end. © Amy Coggins www.thelaboroflove.com
