This week the NCS Blog of the Week Award goes to TE POUAHI 17! Te Pouahi Syndicate have been busy performing Kapa Haka at both Red Square and at the competitions in the holidays. Te Pouahi 17 students have shared some great recounts of their performances, their favourite songs and how they felt when on stage. Take a look at their blog and read all about it; you may even like to leave them a comment too. Well done! You can view Te Pouahi 17's blog by going to the school website and clicking on "Te Pouahi" and then on "Room 17" on the sidebar to the left. http://www.nelsoncentral.school.nz

World Action Day for the environment On Sa turday 24th Oc tober i t was a day to celebra te the bottle tops we had been collecting. New Zealand started a day of environmental action which was supported by over 180 countries around the world. Room 9 had collected most bottle tops and we made a huge Ca rbon footprint to decora te the ca thedral steps. Lots of other schools had also collected bottl e tops and made things for the di splay. There were bottl e top banners and bottle top men all over the place. The day was to tell people tha t we want to reduce levels of carbon dioxide to 350 parts per million which should help reduce global warming. The environment minister ca me to the event to see our work and said he was meeting with other leaders in Copenhagen in December to discuss pollution. We had lots of fun collec ting our bottle tops and telling people about cli ma te c hange. Jacob P Room 9 (If you go to www.350.org.nz you can see photos and videos from the day - Ed).
