Supreme Commander J. Eddie Tigner
Hello Colonels! The passing of one of our own, PSC Jimmy Walls saddens all that knew him. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to know him and to see how many lives he touched. There are few people that I have known that measures up to PSC Jimmy Walls. I don’t think I have heard anyone say anything bad about him nor did I ever hear him say anything bad about anyone. PSC Jimmy, you will be missed! God Bless America!
I also want to take the time to send out my condolences, to PSC Dwight Burch, PSC Millie Dawkins and PSC J.O. Davis and Col. David Priest for the recent losses of their loved ones. It was a great 25th year celebration at Camp Discovery! If you missed it, you will need to bring money to the Corps meeting in Nashville! It was a great time seeing old friends and celebrating the last 25 years of Camp Discovery. I remember those early years of Camp and how proud the Jaycees were. I also wanted to tell you about an opportunity I had attending the TOYA in San Diego, CA. This old Jaycee got to see my first contested race for national president in years. I also got to see our state president elected as a NVP for this next year. A congratulation goes out to President Bethany. I also had the opportunity to party with the Jaycees.

It made me realize why there is a age limit for the Jaycees. I just can't keep up with the Jaycees any longer. I got to witness everything good about this organization! The TOYA program was a classy event. I look forward to attending next year. I look forward to seeing everyone at the board meeting in Nashville on November 14-16. We have a fun time planned and look forward to “visiting” with all you Colonels! Remember ask your local chapter to submit someone for the Volunteer Corps. It is a great honor to be a Colonel! J. Eddie Tigner Supreme Commander

PSC Emmons went into the social security office to apply for Social Security. After waiting in line a long time he got to the counter. The woman behind the counter asked him for his driver’s license to verify his age. He looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home. He told the woman that he was very sorry but he seemed to have left his wallet at home. "Will I have to go home and come back now?" he asks. The woman says, "Unbutton your shirt." So he opens his shirt revealing lots of curly silver hair. She says, "That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me," and she processed his Social Security application. When he gets home, he excitedly tells his wife about his experience at the Social Security office. She said, "You should have dropped your pants, you might have qualified for disability, too."

"While the storm clouds gather far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free, Let us all be grateful for a land so fair, As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. " God Bless America, Land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans, white with foam God bless America, My home sweet home

A Meeting of the Veterans of the Civil War was held at Camp Discovery on September 19th 2009. I think Confederate President Jefferson Davis (far left) and General Robert E. Lee (3rd from the left) are holding up very well!!
