VERSION 1: “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” says John Gray in his famous book of the same title on the remarkable differences between the sexes. Such differences can be easily found in men’s and women’s attitudes towards several aspects of life among which is marriage. First and foremost, what separates men and women is their attitude towards love after marriage. The romance seemingly comes to an end for men once the wedding bell rings. They give themselves a long break from being the caring, considerate and sensitive men that women fell in love with beforehand. Women, on the other hand, never take their love for granted. Being announced as husbands and wives should not be the reason for them to stop showing loving gestures towards each other, so women believe. Either men come back from their rest or women succeed in reminding their men, otherwise, this difference can lead to serious problem for their marriage.

Another indicator of the gender difference in marriage is how they care for children. Normally, women love children with their unconditional maternal instincts. Similar kind of love for children develops less and later in men probably because women are the one who are able to give birth, after all. It is said that women turn to mothers when they are expecting their children whereas men become fathers when looking at their children for the first time. How they express the affection and influence on the children are also quite not the same. Mothers usually are the source of tenderness to children while fathers bring them up with tough lessons. Last but not least, an undeniable distinctiveness in the sexes’ attitude towards marriage is their expected roles in the family and their reaction. If one of them has to be responsible for the financial stability of the household, men have more advantages to deal with the task. Home, therefore, is more likely to become under the absolute management of women. As for the reaction, men, especially those from originally-feudalism-dominated countries, may find this rather sexist order insignificant or even worse, satisfying since it obviously does them and their pride no harm. However, women everywhere certainly and rightfully consider it an enormous obstacle to their gender’s as well as the world’s development. In this matter, apparently, men and women are poles apart. All-in-all, when it comes to marriage, different ideas on romance, children and household roles challenge the sexes’ harmony. However, as long as their love for each other remains strong, men and women will undoubtedly overcome these differences and enjoy the delights of each other’s company in the journey of life.
