Pine Log It’s been a busy summer for our Field Representative. June and July were occupied with VBS at Grand Island BPC and the Great Lakes Presbytery summer youth camp. Dr. Pine’s latest trip took him to the Pacific Northwest for stops at BP churches in Scappoose, OR; Hayden Lake, ID; Kalispell, MT; and the churches of the Puget Sound area of

Washington during the BPC’s annual Synod meetings in Olympia. He returned to Grand Island on August 16. After a week of vacation in the Adirondacks with his family, Len was back in the office on August 29, ready to tackle preparations for fall and winter ministry opportunities. Thanks for your prayers and financial support of Dr. Pine’s ministry.

New Missionaries Appointed to Myanmar

Rev. and Mrs. Khawl Ro Kim, Yangon, Myanmar

Presbyterian Missionary Union is pleased to recommend a new missionary couple to the churches and friends of the Bible Presbyterian Church. Rev. Khawl Ro Kim, recently ordained by the Great Lakes Presbytery, was appointed as an indigenous church planter to the nation of Myanmar. Along with his wife, Mawite, Rev. Kim has already begun church planting works in Yangon and in the Inle Lake region. They have also started an orphanage at Inle, and most recently a kindergarten in Yangon. Please join us in supporting the labors of the Kims in Myanmar. Their support needs are $1100 a month. Can you help? Your gift will go a long way toward reaching needy souls and planting BP churches in the Golden Kingdom of Myanmar. Thank you!

Presbyterian Missionary Union is a non-profit missions agency associated with the Bible Presbyterian Church. Our purpose is to advance the cause of missions that are biblically based and practiced and to stand against any compromise of the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. PMU is directed by a Missions Council of Christian leaders who volunteer their time to guide the ministry. To learn more about missions opportunities through PMU, or to learn more about the BPC please contact us. The Missions Banner is published ten times a year and is distributed without cost to interested individuals and churches. It seeks to promote the clear stand of the BPC by providing a biblical perspective on issues, fads, and theories in missions and church development. Our Editor is Len Pine, and our Publishing Coordinator is Tito Lyro.

Team Timothy Brazil The members of PMU’s Team Timothy Brazil returned home tired but elated July 23. Their work in the city of Triunfo included building the floor of a new sanctuary built on a hillside (top picture, left), which required the carrying by hand over twenty-five tons of stone to fill the space! They also held daily Vacation Bible School attended by scores of children and adults, too.

The “Rock Line”

Rev. Samuel Vitalino, representative of the “Antioch in Sertao” Project, traveled to PMU’s annual meeting in Olympia, WA, to express his thanks to the Council for sending the team, and wrote the following summary of the team’s ministry: “The summer of 2005 was a great blessing to the Project Antioquia no Sertao in the Northeastern part of Brazil. “The mission in Triunfo received the Team Timothy from the Bible Presbyterian Church. “The Team worked hard building a church and teaching a Vacation Bible School for 75 children in Triunfo and Sitio Santana. “They also visited Sitio da Barra witnessing the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Where are the guys when you need them?

The people in Triunfo received Team Timothy with a great expectation and we are thankful to say that all expectations were far exceeded because of the love and kindness of the members of Team Timothy. Tito, Carol, Susan, David, Sarah, Tim, Jessica, Yumi, Eric, Julia, Tara, Casey, and Charissa may not know about it, but their efforts were answered by God in a very kind way. “The next Lord’s day and Sundays following after Team Timothy left, the church was so full of people that the worship services needed to be outdoors at a court in front of the sanctuary. “Praise the Lord for the spreading of the Gospel in that region of Brazil. “Because of the [nature of the] ground in Triunfo, Team Timothy learned what it means to build a Church on the rock! “The work of Team Timothy was much appreciated.”

VBS kids gather for Bible stories

Rev. Paulo Brasil, President of the Antioch in Sertao Project Board adds, “Their effort was highly appreciated and we pray that the Lord will strengthen our relationship with the Bible Presbyterian Church.” Thank you to all who supported the work of this team in prayer and finances. God enabled them to do a great work! The Brazilian believers have asked that PMU send another team in 2007. We will look to the Lord’s leading and provision to do so.

PMU Council Meeting Report Singing about Jesus at VBS

“Future Site of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil”, a little closer to finished!

The PMU Mission Council met for its twentieth annual gathering at the beautiful facilities of the Olympia BPC in Olympia, Washington, on Wednesday, August 3, the day before the BPC’s General Synod convened. Former Field Representative, Dr. Morris McDonald, addressed the body with a look back at twenty years of faithful ministry, and current FR, Dr. Len Pine, reported on the work of this past year and set forth a vision for ministry in the next twenty years. Reports of home missions and foreign missionaries were received with joy. Two new Council members, Rev. Christopher Lensch and Rev. William Kane, were approved. Rev. Tito Lyro was re-elected as PMU President. Future ministries in Rwanda were discussed, and new missionaries were appointed to Myanmar. Team Timothy ministries for 2006 were settled upon. The 2006 budget, which reflects a significant increase in necessary ministry spending, takes into account the increased level of giving that the Council has seen in the past year, for which we praise the Lord. Thank you for your faithful support of this ministry!
