Jon Thaxton Live at Brundall! Boxer visits Brundall Primary th

On the 20 November 2008, Jon Thaxton, the European Lightweight Champion of Boxing, visited our school and did an assembly. He set up a boxing ring and some children (and a teacher!) got to box against him. Jon talked to us to never give up and that boxing is for in the ring or gym and nowhere else. Both Year 6 classes did a workshop with him in the hall. I learnt a good lesson: never give up. Reporter: Astyn Webb

Lucky Moyo by Abi Clarke Lucky Moyo came all the way from Zimbabwe to show us a dance. He came on the 26th and 27th of November. He came to tell us there is a language of percussion-gum boot dancing. You simply tap the boot and clap to make a sound like ‘boochii-da-boo-boo! Lucky Moyo wanted to take us to London to show off. We all loved him.

Lucky boots the School into Action The outstanding talents of Brundall School rediscovered by a visitor called Lucky Moyo. From Zimbabwe, Lucky taught Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 a new dance called the gumboot dance. Gumboot is a dance where wellies are used to create slaps, stamps and claps combined to create rhythmic patterns. Lucky claimed ‘Music goes beyond language’. Brundall now has a new talent to show. Well done Lucky! Reporter: Benjamin Syder Lucky Moyo-gumboot dancing

Boxing Brundall by Jack Haynes On Thursday 20th of November at Brundall school, they had a special visit from Jon Thaxton. He gave an assembly on anti-bullying and how he trains hard to achieve his target. The year 6s had their own workshop with him, they did an activity such as organising numbers into order and learnt to work as a team. They also got a chance later on to ask him questions about his job and how he trains as a boxer. Overall Brundall School had a brilliant day.

Thaxton Comes to town! Jon Thaxton comes to Brundall School for anti-bullying Week First, in Assembly, Jon taught everyone about not bullying by first choosing some people to box with him. Next he said how it was only okay to hit someone for a sport and if you hit someone it is classed as bullying. He also said hitting isn’t the only type of bullying; you can also bully someone emotionally which is just as bad. Then he talked about perseverance and took some classes for a session. Finally, he gave out autographs. Don’t bully! Reporter: Helen Kettley Thaxton’s fan Club On Thursday 20th November 2008 Jon Thaxton gave a visit to Brundall School. All the students enjoyed the spectacular event! He came in and got some kids to box him. And at the end as a special treat he got one of the teachers to box him! Can you guess….it was Miss Brown! It was sooo funny, and in the end she knocked him out! Can you believe it? Then he did a workshop with two year six classes. They had to see how good their teamwork was. After that, the last thing he did was at lunchtime, he gave out autographs. And in all my time I have never seen a queue that big! Reporter: Connor Watson

All the children in Brundall School brought their gumboots in and Lucky Moyo taught us some gumboot dancing. The children really enjoyed it and liked learning gumboot dancing. Lucky was a friendly and nice person to learn gumboot dancing with. Lucky was from Zimbabwe where gumboot dancing originated. The miners in Zimbabwe used to do gumboot dancing down the mines. They used gumboot dancing as their language because the miners all spoke different languages. Brundall school are very grateful that Lucky Moyo came to our school. Reporter: Theodore Hewitt-Allard
