z City Issues Proclamation for World Polio Day z

At the October 21st meeting of the Campbell Chamber of Commerce at the Outback Steakhouse in The Pruneyard, Mayor Jane Kennedy will issue a proclamation to our club in honor of RI’s World Polio Day and the work our club does to help eradicate that terrible disease.

Child Advocates’ Picnic About 50 of Santa Clara County’s Child Advocates with some of their charges and family members enjoyed the annual picnic sponsored by our club at Oak Meadow Park in Los Gatos last Saturday. The weather was perfect for a Fall gathering, and the food was fabulous, as master chef Marc Wagner orchestrated the cooking of the hamburgers, cheeseburgers, turkey, chicken and veggie burgers along with two varieties of chicken wings, hot dogs, polish sausages and hot links, all with a full compliment of condiments and side dishes. This event started well over 20 years ago to honor the work that

the Child Advocates do all year long on behalf of their children. Although the original organizers have long since gone, Marc and his crew continue to event each year brining smiles to faces of young and old alike. On hand to help cook and serve were members: Bill Highley, Kit Whitney, Rick Davis, Bob Yager, Janine Payton, Dave Crowley, John Shannon, and a special delivery by Bill Ellington saved the day. Also volunteering were Ana Yager, Bob’s daughter, Marc’s wife, Cindy, Rick’s wife, Doris and Jerry Cummings’ son-in-law and granddaughter. Beautiful weather, great food, and fabulous company--a good time was definitely had by all.
