Important Dates: Tuesday mornings: 9-11am Gardening (if fine) Each class has half an hour in the Unity Garden. All are welcome to join us. Monday 25th March & Tuesday 26th March Kōwhai Digital Technology Trips at Te Papa. Wednesday 27th March School Sports Festival – Yr 5/6. 5.30 Te Kāhui Mātau hui. Everyone welcome.

For many the last week has been a time of disbelief, reflection and action from the events that unfolded in Christchurch. Our tamariki are all making friendship, paper chain dolls that are being sent to Christchurch to join other dolls made from schools around the country. This is a small way we can show our support, embracing and celebrating the many ethnicities, cultures and beliefs in Aotearoa. Epuni School is proud of the diversity within our school and the richness it brings to us as a community. At this time we are reminded that our school values are so important both within our kura and in the wider community. It is timely for us all to not only be mindful of them but most importantly to demonstrate them:

Thursday 28th March 3.15pm Whānau Meeting in the staffroom.

Manaakitanga – Respect At Epuni School, we respect ourselves, we respect others, we respect our enviornment.

Friday 29th March 9.10am Whānau Time – Sharing Time led by student leaders.

Whanaungatanga – Relationships At Epuni School, we have manaaki for eath other, we tautoko each other, we stand by each other.

Tuesday 2nd April & Wednesday 3rd April 1.30pm-6pm 3-way conferences.

Tūtika – Responsibility At Epuni School we make good choices, we own the choices we make, we manage ourselves.

Friday 5th April 9.10am Whānau Time – Celebration of Learning hosted by Kōwhai.

Manawaroa – Resilience At Epuni School, we never give up, we believe we can, we learn from our mistakes.

Tuesday 9th & Wednesday 10th April 6pm School Production. Friday 5th April 3pm BOT succession Hui in staffroom. Friday 12th April 3pm Term 1 ends.

Each term we have a stonger focus on one value, unpacking and teaching what this means for our tamariki and how they can demonstrate and model this to others. Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi. Engari, he toa takitini. My strength is not the strength of one. It is the strength of many.

Ngā mihi Janet Evans

Easter Raffle Thank you for all the wonderful donations for our Easter raffle. We have three fantastic prizes to raffle off. Tickets are now on sale at the office for $1.00 each, and the raffle will be drawn on Friday 12th April during whānau time. All proceeds will go towards the new playground. Measles There is a large and ongoing outbreak of measles in Christchurch, Auckland and Dunedin have now also reported measles cases. While there are currently no reported cases in the greater Wellington region, people will move around NZ during the school holiday period and it is likely measles will spread. Phone your local medical centre to arrange to be immunised if not already protected. Measles immunisation is free. Immunisation needs to occur by 30th March to be sure of protection for the school holiday period. This is because it takes 14 days to develop immunity after immunisation.

Movin’ March 1st-29th March. There are lots of great prizes up for grabs, so get your family walking and wheeling to school! www.movinmarch.com.
