Oil is a source of energy usually found under water. It is a fossil fuel, which means that oil is burnt to generate electricity. This source of energy is usually used for petrol.

Advantages • Transporting oil to power stations is easy • Fossil fuel power stations can be built anywhere • It is better than burning coal

Disadvantages • When we burn oil, it pollutes the air • If there is a oil spill in the ocean, a lot of wildlife, especially birds, will die • Oil energy is nonrenewable, so when we use up all the oil, there will be no more.
