Biomass energy is from organic products, such as rubbish, plants. and other wastes.

1. When the biomass is burnt, it creates heat and that boils water to make steam. 2. The steam then turns the turbine, which turns the generator. 3. Electricity is generated , the water is cooled and it is sent to a reservoir.

Disadvantages

Advantages •

It makes sense to use rubbish where we can.



Some poor countries think that burning food is a waste.



Biomass energy tends to be cheap.

It is a renewable energy source.

It produces carbon dioxide, but the amount of carbon dioxide is much less than the fossil fuels.

Biomass energy means less demand from fossil fuels.
