HAND-OUT NO. 1- COMPUTER 9 Microsoft Publisher Parts of Microsoft Publisher  Objects Toolbar- provides buttons for inserting the objects you will include in your publication. These include text boxes, picture boxes, lines, shapes, and design gallery objects. It is displayed vertically along the left side of publisher window.  Work space- the area where a new or existing publication appears. It is whre you actually work on a publication.  Page sorter- helps you select and move to pages.  Object position- determines the exact location of the elements you placed in the workspace.  Object size- determines the exact size of the elements you placed in the workspace.  Ruler guide- the horizontal or vertical guide that you can move to any point on the ruler. You use the ruler guides to help you align the elements you layout in your publications.  Scratch area- the place where you temporarily create or hold objects that you don’t want on any page presently  Task pane- contains different selections you can choose to create your publications.  Margin guides-are the “non-printable” blue lines you find in every page. This determines the working area. The content of the publication is placed within these guides to ensure consistent layout.  Menu Toolbar- situated below or underneath the title bar. It is the drop/down menu bar that have a multiple command buttons inside of it that can be use of the design application application of both the template, object, and effects.  Standard toolbar- It is the most common use buttons inside of it, normally same of the bar found of the MS- Word. Such as Open that can be access using CTRL + O, Save, print, and or print preview buttons.  Formatting Toolbar- It is the buttons inside of it use to change the appearance of the both the text, objects, font, size, and colors of the design application. It is the bar use to interpret what our like to design. So, just design and find your creativity.  Object Bar- bar found at the left margin of the user interface(UI), it is use to hold the buttons of the objects application such as the word art gallery and the selected autoshapes. That can be use to click and drag, task pane docking, or displaying a dialogue box inside the application window.  Task panel- located next of the object bar, it is use to dock the commonly use command application. It is reverseable once you apply the application menu or a bar provided in the interface window.  Design Template- it is the big part of the interface window, the part where you perform your application. That surrounded with the vertical ruler at the side and the horizontal ruler on the top.

Parts of The object toolbar  Select object tool- to select object  Text boxes tool- to insert text boxes  Insert table tool- to insert tables.  Insert wordart tool- to insert a variety of wordart text.  Picture frame tool- to provide users with options of inserting on image Note: options include inserting clipart, picture from file, from scanner or camera.  Line, arrow, oval and rectangle tools- to insert specific object  Autoshapes tool- to insert a variety of objects such as octagons, smiley faces, hearts, block arrows, call outs and stars.  Design gallery object tool- to insert publisher- specific objects such as calendars, logo, advertisements and borders. TEXT WRAPPING  Square- wraps the text around the image’s frame.  Tight- wraps the text around the actual image.  Through- wraps the text around the perimeter and inside any open areas  Top and bottom- wraps the text around the top and bottom of the image only.  None- completely ignores the text.  Edit wrap points- place small handles along the picture outline. To wrap the text, drag the handles inward or outward until you have controlled the text wrapping.
