FIREARMS QUALIF'ICATIONS: On Monday, April02, all officers of the police department qualified at the NAS base in Westworth. We had a firearms instructor from Dallas County ConstablesOffrce come out and help with qualifications. TCLEOSE requires that all Texas peace officers qualiff at least once a year and offtcers must score at least a 70o/oto pass. Our officers were required to scorea 90ohor better, which they all did. This is another areain offrcer qualifications where the Pelican Bay Police Department has raised the minimum standardsand required that our offlrcers exceed the minimum requirementslisted by TCLEOSE. 2. SCHOLARSHIIP FUND: We have began soliciting donationsfor our scholarship fund and are proud to announce that Marlyn Hawkins was the first person to make a donation. Regina Reed and Quality Towing has also made donations. We encourage everyone to donate to this firnd and we will announce the winning recipients soon! 3. CODE ENFORCEMENT: Four dumpsterswill be delivered to the water department (INSIDE FENCE) on Friday, Apil}7th. The dumpsterswill be there until Monday, April 30th. $45.00 per load (any load), must have a Pelican Bay water bill with name matching individual dumping load. The PD is exploring a new ordinancewhich would require owners of rental properties located inside Pelican Bay, to have the property/residence pass a code inspection prior to the property being available to rent. Mr. Bill Morren offered this idea to Chief Frankum

last Thursday. Mr. Morren andthe PBPD believesthe ordinancewill force property ownersto bring their propertiesup to codebeforebeing ableto collect rent on the properties, thus raising propertyvaluesand improving the way the communitylooks. 4. EASTER BASKETS: On the FridaybeforeEasterSunday,Chief Frankumhanded out 60 Easterbasketsto the children of PelicanBay. Not only were 60 children very happyto receivethe Easterbaskets, but the basketsgaveanotheropportunityfor the PelicanBay Police Departmentto interactin a positive mannerwith the youth in our town.
